Re: Payment on hold, buyer happy with items

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but the tracking numbers on ebay are correct (I entered them myself) and the ones on Paypal have come from nowhere. Is there any way to have the Paypal tracking numbers removed? At best, they're useless and, at worst, they might be indicating somewhere in a system that the items aren't delivered. ... View more

Ellie, I suspect, is the only real human you have interacted with. I've had issues, gone on a descending spiral of unhelpful autoprompted "answers" (that don't) and then ended up with "live chat". Random-name-generated robot that responds to algorithms - I've had it before with other internet CS live chat help. So, I type ever more farcical scenarios of how Paypal is brilliantly going to resolve my problem and - instead of a real human response of "wha?" - Taliyaaana always replies "that's correct, rest assured that Paypal blah blah blah" after the algorithms have done their work. Throw in a ludicrous apology and Bethsheba will quickly soothe your brow and tell you that she lives only to solve valued customers problems.   It's pathetic and, eventually, you'll give up and hope that the system goes your way, which is a handy by-product of the cost-saving, human-free CS setup here. In fact, I'd better kick myself just to make sure that I really exist. Ouch. ... View more

Payment on hold, buyer happy with items

I have received positive feedback (and numerous friendly messages) from the buyer of two of my items but the payment is still being held. The problem, I suspect, is that Paypal has a tracking number for the items that is incorrect. I don't know how these numbers got there and can't remove them. Ebay has the correct tracking numbers which confirm the items were delivered and signed for. The RM tracking shows the signature. Repeating myself, both items have positive feedback for me. However, in Paypal, clicking on "track my delivery" brings up spurious numbers that have nothing to do with it and launches an error message from the RM website. The delivery method was chosen and organized by the buyer; maybe the strange numbers got in that way, I don't know. I can't get rid of them and have to sit around for weeks to get the money for the items the buyer is perfectly happy with. Any tips for removing these false tracking numbers? I've asked the buyer if he can find some way of indicating to Paypal that he's happy but, apart from having posted +ve f/b on ebay, he can't see what else he can do. ... View more

Thanks, David. Sorry I didn't thank you earlier. In the end, the seller was happy to take from paypal UK and send to my address in Spain. Of course, Correos in Spain lost the item... ... View more

Ah. ebay's postage tips suggest that I can choose the type of delivery service, print off and take to the PO. Is this my best way of doing it - from ebay's selling page, not the Paypal site? ... View more

Deduct postage option missing

Sold an item on ebay which had £3.45 standard postage added (try to change it and see how far you get - tore my hair out). Anyhow, I wrote in the description for buyers to contact me but the buyer has paid through but (understandably) wants tracked, signed for, insured. I don't mind coughing up the extra, but Paypal has already taken the £3.45 out. If I press "print label" I assume I'll get inadequate, standard post, correct? The FAQ bot suggested I click on the option to decline the postage (can be done within 7 days) but the option isn't there!   How do I satisfy the customer's wish without being even more out of pocket? I don't mind putting a couple of pounds towards the insurance etc but I don't want a useless, standard 1st class label and having to go to the PO and stump up for the whole lot. Where does this "delete" option appear? Is it safe to click on "print label" and make adjustments or does that automatically mean I've accepted and paid for standard postage?   Any quick answer would be helpful; I'd like to send to him tomorrow. Thanks ... View more

Something has made it difficult, as I thought, but not what I was expecting. I opened a new Paypal account, with my Spanish address, 'phone number and bank details. I went through the confirmation and verification steps and Bingo! I had a Paypal account that I could send and receive money from linked to my Spanish address.   However, I used ebay.es to purchase an item from Hong Kong and clicked "Buy it Now" (Spanish equivalent). The price was in GBP and, when I opt to pay by Paypal, it didn't open up so that I could pay. Instead, it insisted that I add a debit or credit card. As a non-resident, my account doesn't offer me a debit or credit card (tried all of my UK cards and AmEx with no success).   I'm stuck now having clicked "Buy it Now" but can't pay by Paypal unless I revert to my UK Paypal account, and it will be sent to the wrong address for my purposes. I've messaged the seller (in English, seeing as it's Hong Kong) to ask if a separate invoice can be sent as Spanish Paypal seems to operate fine outside of ebay. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. Anyone else have a suggestion? ... View more

Thanks for the quick response. As most of my affairs are in the UK, I was hoping to just add an additional address. Still, for small/cheap items, it shouldn't be too much of a headache to create a Paypal account that takes money out of my Spanish bank account. But... this is Spain! It's never easy. ... View more

Between countries

Hello, I'm probably not the only person this could apply to, but I haven't seen it resolved elsewhere. I'm a UK resident, but I've owned a property in Spain for many years and used it for holidays. Now I'm retired, I'm still a UK resident but I spend longer periods of time in Spain. I have a Spanish bank account but, as a non-resident, I don't have any debit or credit card on a Spanish account.   I'd like to purchase items on ebay (for example) but I don't want to keep having them sent to my UK address and physically bringing them over to Spain myself. I tried adding my Spanish address to my current Paypal account but that didn't work out. Can I add my Spanish address and pay directly using my UK bank account? Are UK debit/credit cards unuseable on Paypal if I request sending to Spain? Is my only option to set up a new, different Paypal account with my Spanish address and bank details? That's my least favourite as I'd be constantly switching money around. Any ideas? ... View more
