Last Friday, Sept. 22nd, I tried to buy a very expensive camera lens ($1,400) using the "buy it now" option from a seller on Ebay. Once I entered my information and hit the buy it now button, I was under the impression the object I paid for would be mine (I am a first time buyer on Ebay). However, not even a minute after purchasing this item, I recieved an email stating that the seller had cancelled my payment because the item was damaged/out of stock. I quickly logged into my bank account to see if the money was still taken out and it was. Keep in mind, I did not have a paypal account at this time. Taking this into consideration, I still recieved an email from PayPal stating that I paid the seller the above amount. I know one of my biggest mistakes was that I did pay with my personal banking/debit card and not a credit card - I'm dumb for that and I've definitely learned my lesson. I immediately called Ebay and filled a dispute with Paypal at this time. I even contacted the seller and he or she went on to say that they would refund me the money if they ever saw it — but I take that with a grain of salt. It wasn't until the following Monday that I created a PayPal account hoping that it would give me more answers or shed some light on the situation if I signed up for an account. So far its led me no where and from what I have understood is that IF the money is given back to me, which I highly hope it is, I could possibly not see it back in my account for another two weeks. Up to this point I believe I have taken all the rights steps leading towards this issue being resolved but I am still very worried of its outcome. I'm just a little impatient and was wondering if there's anyone out there who could shed light on this situation?
