Re: Secure Cards, PayPal Plug-In?

Thanks for your suggestion, Jeff 63301, but I think I'm done with PayPal.  I have removed the plug-in from my browsers (no longer worked anyway), and now use PayPal for eBay auctions only and may drop them there, too.  So much for them since I only do eBay about twice a year. I now have a low-limit credit card (NOT PayPal) for online shopping and will use the BoA ShopSafe, too. Frankly, at this point, and with some further research, PayPal is just not worth the effort.  If enough people write them off, maybe they'll take notice (I doubt it), but it will be too late for them at that point.  "PayPal has died! Long live PayPal" or some such tripe as that. ... View more

Well, good folk . . . we tried.  Just that no one was listening . . . or understood our English.  Too Bad.   I guess "Big Computing" is much like "Big Oil" or "Big Banking" and has other concerns than customers.  Hate to be that cynical, but that's the way it goes . . . Thanks for the efforts. Bye, friends . . .  you too, PayPal.  ... View more

Did all you disgruntled folk get the PP reminder? And can you figure out why the dude is smiling?  Must be using something other than PayPal, huh?!  PP may not let me include their graphic.  No surprise!     ... View more

One of the greatest things about Secure Cards was the ability to subscribe to something that you knew would be automatically renewed, but you didn't want to get caught in the automatic-thing.  I've used it for ConsumerReports online and several news sites.  Funny how they keep notifying me that my "card" has expired and they need a valid card to renew.  I have been in control.  Just today, managed to ID and kill an auto renew credit card service that had started in 1985, but had not been able to bill me until I activated a card ... and the card is a VISA from BoA with their ShopSafe feature that I had to activate in order to have an option to PayPal .  Go figure. Come on, PayPal.  Time to realize you've made a huge business and PR mistake and NOT stop Secure Cards next week. ... View more

Thank you, Al Stearns and L. Wilson, for your replies to Amanda.  I agree that we must have hit the "4 pages of posts" threshold to receive a reply from PP ... but, thank you, Amanda, for fielding our comments. My latest PP bummer was going to my receipts to try and download into a file all my receipts ... as PP suggests you should do.  THAT didn't work either!  I can print each one individually, but not the whole history as a file.  Fortunately, from the get-go I had devised a method of keeping this stuff.  I just wanted to see if it worked. I have managed to complete my online transactions since about page 3 of these posts via Bank of America ShopSafe.  As I said earlier, it is not as efficient and convenient as SecureCards, but it DOES work and gives a similar extra layer of security and anonymity for credit transactions. This isn't to-the-point, but does anyone know what resources at PP and eBay are consumed when we use the Plug-in installed on our computer?  I know there is the record-keeping thing, but that is surely a "server-thing" and not a "people thing."  Just curious. KEEP THE CAMPAIGN GOING!!   ... View more

Went to the PP corporate blog.  Tried "contact us"  with this message:   "Anyone at PP listening??  Check your PP Community Forum for comments on dropping "Secure Cards" and PP plug-in.   If you can understand the vernacular, you are shooting yourselves at PP/eBay in the foot !"   Tried to send messages twice ... only got: "Failed to send.  Contact administrator or use other way."   This just gets better and better !!  Even if they bring back the plug-in, I think I've had it with them. ... For those who wonder if PP is listening ... go to their corporate blog and you might get a clue why no one cares: https://www.thepaypalblog.com/ Explore that a bit and you will see they are very please with themselves, but not with us ... customers.  We must be such an inconvenience to them! ... OK.  Tried the BoA ShopSafe tonight to make a charitable donation.  Process is not as automatic as PP, but it WORKED.  You have to manually transfer info for the card from ShopSafe to your vendor, but keeping them in separate windows makes this easy enough.  Still MUCH prefer what PP does, but, if they are going to leave us hanging and swinging, then I'm good-to-go with an option! ...
