Ebay conversion rate different to paypal rate. Why...

I have looked through threads on this issue and have not found a concrete answer only that Paypal uses two conversion rates a day because the exchange rate changes throughout the day.   My query is this - when I buy an item from America on the UK Ebay site the price shown is in USD (dollars) with an approximate conversion to GPB (pounds) on the listing page but when it comes to paying at the checkout the price Ebay quotes is automatically converted to GPB and is always lower than the price that Paypal will charge me. Why aren't the exchange rates the same so that the price I will pay is what is shown in my ebay basket? How does the seller know the exact amount, minus sellers fees, he will recieve when he lists an item on ebay and chooses to sell it to an international buyer? Obviously I assume the sellers fees are transparent and experienced sellers know what fees will apply when they put an item on ebay.   It frustrates me that the only answer people can give is don't buy from international sellers. If we all did this then the economy of each nation would collaspse. We would have no imports nor exports and we would have to buy what we produced in our own country. Curry would never exist in English society as spices would not be imported. Kew gardens would not exist either.   I want to pay the price shown in my ebay basket not an inflated price due to conversion rates being different on each site.   To say that you are now independent companies and use your own rates comparable to the bank rate does not help sellers or buyers it only adds to the confusion.   Please explain why I pay more using Paypal than Ebay charges me at checkout?    Rachel     ... Refund on Cancelled Order

I ordered a coin from SilverGoldBull.co.uk (parent company based in USA and Canada) but realised I had made a mistake so cancelled the order immediately via live chat. However, under their terms and conditions, they do not accept cancellations only a buy-back option which would leave me out of pocket. As I immediately cancelled the order I assumed that as no money had been exchanged that under UK law it would just be a cancelled order. Sadly for me they are saying the order was processed immediately and that PayPal completed immediately on payment. I have not received the coin, they are holding shipment and have asked if I want the coin or for them to buy it back from me at a loss to me! What are my rights under the Consumer Rights Acts! Are they legally obliged not to give me a full refund as the order was processed with PayPal completing payment immediately or can I ask for a full refund and get it? ... View more
