I was having problems sending money internationally (described in another post) so I decided to try out sending money to my dad, who also lives in Argentina. It didn't allow me to send money in Argentine Pesos (the currency option was just not on the list), so I tried sending money in dollars. However, I got an error message that just said "can't send payments to a domestic receiver". That's a strange restriction to have. Could someone please explain it? ... View more

I have an Argentine account, and wanted to try to send money to my brother, who lives in New York. My bank account is in ARS, but I'm not given the option to send ARS, so I'm sending it in USD. PayPal gives me the conversion rate, tells me how much will be deducted from my debit card (ISIC Visa card, so I'm it should work internationally) "recipient doesn't accept payments from this kind of card".   Argentina has the restriction of not being able to trade currencies between ARS and foreign currencies outside of banking hours but from what I understand, PayPal handles the conversion themselves, so that shouldn't be a problem, right? From the bank's perspective, I'm just taking out "16.6 pesos", not "1 dollar", right?     ... View more
