I am using PayPal (Buy Now) on my web site to allow advertisers to purchase ad blocks (spaces) for my print publication. When a buyer uses the optional guest (credit card) checkout the buyer receives a Receipt Number in the confirmation email from PayPal. However, when I look at the Transaction Detail of that purchase on my Seller PP account, there is no Receipt Number but a Unique Transaction ID. These numbers do not match—buyer get Rec. Numb. and seller sees UT-ID. Why does the PayPal email confirmation create a Receipt Number when there is no matching number on the Transaction Detail? Also, if the buyer contacts me (the seller) to resolve an issue, what number is available to both for confirmation—since RN and UT ID are different? Color me confused. Thanks.
