PayPal Refund Exploitation

Everyone should be aware of an exploit that is being used, and I was just a victim of, losing out on $14,000 (in reality, almost $28,000 because of the type of site I own and run). Below is a screenshot of the method being sold on their site.  What is it you ask? It's as simple as owning an established PayPal, making a purchase from a non-proxy IP near your actual address and immediately calling PayPal and claiming you didn't make the purchase, which then puts a hold on all of your recent transactions with that website/vendor, and within hours they are all reversed in your favor.  PayPal does not investigate these other transactions, nor do they allow you, the seller, to provide evidence for Seller Protection or any other reason.  They're closed in the buyer's favor, no questions asked.     Thanks PayPal for allowing people to abuse your site without repercussions. ... Verifying Customer Paypal Accounts

So I recently came across a Paypal link that can show if any account is verified via an email address. I can't enter it because otherwise I can't post this topic.....   You have to be logged in and you substitue "Insert username[at symbol]emailhost.com here"  in the URL for somebody's email real address, and it'll tell you whether it's a Verified Paypal or not.  Would it be possible to somehow implement this on my site using AJAX or something, so that when a user types their username into a field, it checks it automatically?   Or is there any other way to do this? Or can someone point me in the direction of a possible module for verifying Paypal accounts? ... View more

Questions regarding a Digital Good/Service site

I've looked at the "Developers looking for help" thread and seen it could be really helpful...until I noticed they're all x.com URL's... Kind of frustrating.   I'm planning on developing a website in the coming months in which users would be purchasing a site credit via payment processors (obviously Paypal will be the first and probably most used). The credit would have real value, since users will also be able to withdraw and convert it back into USD. Since this is a digital good/service, how well would I be protected against charge backs or claims?   Also, I assume it's possible for a site to implement a way in which to check the validity of someone's PayPal account by just providing their email? (As in whether or not it's a Verified account)   All help, answers and posts appreciated ... View more

MoneyPak Limit Verification

by Multitask Contributor in My Feedback for PayPal (Archive)

So I've been trying months to get information on the verification process for lifting the $250/year MoneyPak funding limit. I can't seem to get a straight forward answer via Paypal email support, nor can I get one via phone/email Green Dot support. Some time mid-last year I attempted to lift it, but it just gave the message that they were unable to verify my identity. This is already strange in itself since I've lifted most limits on my Paypal account, including sending them proof of SSN, adding a confirmed bank account, and adding a credit card/debit card.  However, I can understand if Green Dot needs to do it separately. Anyways, after the first attempt I waited til January of this year and attempted to charge more MoneyPak after hitting the $250 last year. I was successful up until now when I get the same message as before, saying that they were unable to verify my identity or whatever. The one piece of information Green Dot email support did manage to give me, was that they allow two attempts at verifying yourself to lift the limit. I have no idea on how to be able to give it a second try. I've requested help on the issue numerous times from both sides and haven't been able to get a direct answer. They all just give me the same answer, and it's always something along the lines of "You're allowed $250/year, to lift the limit you can provide information to Green Dot". I tried calling Green Dot one time, but the rep could barely speak English so he didn't understand what I was asking and I could barely understand what he was saying.    Can anyone here maybe shed some light as to what my options are here? Or if I'm basically stuck with this $250/year limit for the rest of my life?  Thanks in advance. ... View more
