2 week ago, I got sick of Greendot because they refuse to lift their foreign transaction ban and decided to switch to Paypal Prepaid Card. I was happy to hear Paypal had prepaid cards and allowed them to be used overseas, on and offline. When I tried to regisster for one online, I got an error saying I already ordered one(which wasn't true). I contacted Consumer Service and they said they had no record of it, so they sent me one. Today, I finally got my Paypal Prepaid debit card, tried to register it online at Paypal' Prepaid website....and it failed. I got an error saying "This card cannot be activated on this website. Please refer to the back of your card for the correct website." This was even after I went to Paypal's site and linked it directly. So after a few more tries, I called the activation phone number and successfully got it activated. I then tried to log in online and I got an error saying "We are unable to find a prepaid card account linked to the provided email address." So I contacted Paypal Prepaid and after an hour and 30 minutes of being ping ponged between Paypal consumer service and Paypal Prepaid consumer service, I was told that cards ordered over the phone often have this issue(WHAT?) and my account will be investigated by the IT team to see the issue(if it's a common issue, why isn't it fixed?). Now I am waiting to see what other excuse I will get. But what I learned today from consumer service is that they are completely unaware that Paypal.com/Prepaid redirects to paypal-prepaid.com, which took 15 minutes for them to accept. I love Paypal, and I want to use this card instead of relying on my credit card, but you've gotta update your consumer staff on things and fix common issues!
