You have asked great questions. Some vendors do require a preapproved payments agreement for their purchases, the terms of which are shown at the time of purchase. I'm not personally familiar with purchasing from all the vendors that you mentioned, but you will see it with companies that offer the ability to create a login and password for purchasing on their page. The preapproved payment allows for streamlined ordering on subsequent purchases, using the login on their site.
If you're ever concerned about an active preapproved payment agreement, you can definitely cancel it and watch very closely on another purchase with that company to see what their terms are for your next purchase.
