I have an old Premiere account that had micropayments turned on at some point in the past.  This account is now a personal account since apparently Paypal did away with Premiere accounts a few years ago. I want to turn micropayments off.   I contacted Paypal support asking about micropayments and they kept telling me that micropayments are not enabled on my account, because only business accounts can have micropayments.  I know support is wrong since I received a $10 payment which had a 70 cent fee (6.5% + 0.05) and a $2.22 payment which had a 16 cent fee (5% + 0.05).     When I explained this to the support agent and provided the transaction id I was told the following:   "The payment is below $10.00 USD , so you were charged 5% + $0.05 USD. For payment of and above $10.00 USD, it is 2.9% + $0.30 USD in the USA".   I asked where that rule was documented and the person provided a link to https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/merchant-fees, but nowhere on that web site does it indicate that that's an option.  As such I'm fairly certain the support person was wrong.    I did have a second personal account that was truly personal and did not have micropayments enabled, but I ended up closing that one since I couldn't link my bank to it and I didn't want to lose my transaction history.   So basically: Was the Paypal support agent correct and micropayment fees are used for less than $10 and regular fees are used for $10 or more.   I assume the answer is no. Okay I figured out what PayPal did and it's a half hearted attempt at best. In order to sign in using two factor authentication both the following must be true:   1. Your phone must be registered to receive security key codes via SMS. 2. No other security keys can be on your account. That includes the VIP app.   #1 is bad for people who pay per SMS. #2 is bad for everyone since it means if you are in an area with no cell coverage, but still have Wifi, you won't be able to access your PayPal account at all since the only way to get in is to receive a code via SMS.   Basically, PayPal's fix requires you intentionally potentially crippling your access to PayPal. ... I was excited because the 5.10 version of the iOS PayPal app said it now supports the PayPal security key, but when I try to login, it simply displays a page saying that the physical security key isn't supported, but the phone version is and the only option at this point is to "Register my Phone" which takes me to the security key PayPal web page.   I already have the Verisign app on my phone and it's already registered, but every time I try to log into the PayPal app, the only option I'm given is to "Register my Phone". There's no way to enter the key number, so even if I were to register my phone to receive SMS codes (I get charged per text), I couldn't enter them anyway.   I can't figure out how to actually log in into the app since it won't let me put my security key number in.   How do I enter my number? ... Push notifications can't be enabled on iOS devices running iOS 8 or higher. I've had the PayPal iOS app installed on my iPhone 5s and iPad 2 a long time. Long before I updated both devices to iOS 8. Push notifications worked on both. I got an iPad Air 2 which I restored the backup of the iPad 2 on to, but wasn't getting any push notifications. I logged into my Paypal account on the web and saw only my iPad 2 was listed on the push notifications settings web page ( https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/customerprofileweb?cmd=%5fprofile%2ddevice ). I saw my iPad 2 and iPhone 5s listed twice under the mobile devices setting page ( https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/settings/mobileDevice/edit/ ) so I deleted all of them and logged out and back into the app. Nothing showed up on either page from above, so I decided to uninstall the PayPal app and reinstall on both my iPhone 5s and iPad Air 2. After reinstalling the PayPal 5.9.1 iOS app, my devices show up on the mobile devices setting page (2nd link), but not on the push notifications page (1st link) and the app will no longer allow me to enable push notifications on my iPhone 5s or iPad Air 2 running iOS 8.1.2. The app reports that notifications aren't enabled in the iOS settings for the PayPal app and that I need to enable them, but they are already enabled. This is the first time I've reinstalled under iOS 8 and I know the way apps register for push notifications changed in iOS 8 as many apps had issues with push notifications, so my guess is the PayPal app wasn't updated. Steps to reproduce: 1. Make sure iOS device is running iOS 8 or higher 2. Uninstall app 3. Reinstall app. 4. Go to iOS Settings -> PayPal and make sure notifications are enabled. 5. Open app and Log in. 6. Go to settings -> account Expected results: 1. Can enable push notifications Actual result: 1.
