I transferred a substantial amount of money from my bank account to Paypal on 3rd May and despite numerous phone calls and emails the money still has not appeared. I first became concerned when I could not find the option I had used to carry out the bank transfer (saying that money would normally be transferred to Paypal within minutes but to allow up to 4 working days and giving the account details I needed to use: sort code, a/c number and unique customer reference number). I was told when I phoned Paypal that there had been a glitch and that the option to carry out this bank transfer should not have been available for use (apparently it was removed about a year ago, I suspect due to similar issues which it has caused from re-appearing!). Paypal have now hidden this option again. The person I spoke to on the phone confirmed that the customer reference number I used was correct but that he did not have access to the sort code or account number information. He also informed me they had had many calls regarding this and that my money should appear withn the next 72 hours. Surprisingly it has not and I have now been told by Paypal that my bank should reverse the transfer, but I have been in to see them and there is nothing they can do. I am appauled by the lack of concerned shown by Paypal considering it was their mistake that I am now in this situation. Surely they should be able to trace the monies within their system? This has made me very suspicious and I intend seeking legal advice unless Paypal resolve this issue as a matter of urgency.
