I was recently offered a buy now price on an ebay auction. I paid it via PayPal, believing it was protected. The seller notified PayPal of a tracking number, about which the carrier would only tell me that it was for a different London postcode (as I have no legal standing in the contract between sender and carrier). I have tried to contact the seller via email and ebay message several times over the past ten days without a reply (whereas before the money was transferred replies were within 12 hours). I have just tried to open a dispute via the dispute link on the transaction details, but am informed that no dispute is possible. I guess I'll have to say goodbye to 273 UKP, but how can I warn others about a fraudulent seller with an Ebay and PayPal account?? Would it not be reasonable to put a warning on the PayPal site that only transactions between commercial sellers and buyers are protected, as I have paid for various goods and services outside Ebay with PayPal (which I presume are protected)?
