What may work better for your bookeeping would be to cancel that invoice and send a new one. Copying an invoice is just a quik way to create a new one. When you copy an invoice, the Create a new invoice page opens and displays an exact replica of the original invoice except for the invoice number, invoice date, and due date. These three fields are reset. You can make any necessary edits before sending the invoice.
