I recently made a purchase from a UK high street chain and opted to pay via PayPal. The transaction process brought me to PP and the purchase was completed except that it was taken from my card and not my account balance. There were sufficient cleared available funds on my account, so why was the purchase funded by my card? When the charge appeared on my card statement, I made a claim as an unauthorised payment, I then find out that PayPal had taken the money and has now limited my account because I made the chargeback. When paying via PayPal with sufficient funds, it defaults to using available funds not the card on the account and you should need to switch funding options manually. Not only has this cost me a great deal of concern with respect to the fact that PP has taken money from my card without my authorisation, but also that the vendor now thinks I have stolen the goods which I received no problem. I now need to reinstate my account by providing more steps of authenticity, changing my password, verifying my card and who I am and all because you took money from my card without my say so. This is my money to do with what I please, I pay for the priviledge of having you take care of it, but it looks to me like you are abusing that priviledge. Why should I need to justify my account when you have taken money from the wrong funding source creating a chain of events rendering me unable to get to MY money and I'm now also a thief in the eyes of the vendor...
