Hi all, I recently ran into a problem in a couple purchases in a row from websites that had Paypal checkouts (jlaquatics.com and autopartsway.ca, FWIW). In both cases I had partial funds in my Paypal account. However, there was no option in either case to pay using Paypal funds - credit cards were the only option. I make a lot of purchases from web stores but I've never seen that happen before. So I contacted Paypal customer support and I was told that the problem could be that the merchant doesn't accept paypal funds, something off with the way they have it set up, or I could have my account set up to "hit the credit card first" (though there was no option to select any other payment method other than my other CCs). It seems unlikely that 2 separate companies both have the same odd setup for payments, though both are Canadian companies so maybe that's it. Anyway, my 2 questions would be: 1. Why in the world would any merchant accept Paypal payments but not via Paypal funds? And isn't it a bit misleading to allow them to use the Paypal logo without really accepting Paypal? Most people associate Paypal with Paypal funds, not the credit card merchant system. And at both sites they accepted CCs separately, so it makes no sense why they'd have the Paypal option there too. 2. Where is this setting to "hit the credit card first"? I've been looking and can't find anything like that. Thanks for any help you guys can give on this!
