I tried to log in to my paypal today and after entering userid and password, I got a screen saying Paypal had "randomly" selected me for a security maintenance check. Below that were menus asking for either my credit card I have on file, or my bank acount number. I was suspicious, so closed my browser, dumped cookies and cache, rebooted, tried again and got the same message. I had not enteretd PayPal through any link or email. I had typed their https address directly in my browser so I answered the question about my bank account. The next screen showed an IP address and a location in Germany and asked (via a bulleted menu) yes or No had I been traveling lately. The yes just said yes, I had been traveling but the No said "No I have not and I suspect someone has been fraudulently trying to access my account (!). I checked NO....and from there I was instructed (made to) change my password and security questions. I was then logged in normally BUT.... what the **bleep**???? Where is the information about the attempted account breach?? When? How many times? Were they successful? How do I know they DIDN'T garner SOME information?? You just logged me in as usual after telling me someone tried to access my account but give me no details????
