I am looking into online payment solutions, and I found the PayPal Permissions API. The ideal solution would offer streamlined purchases and also be able to manage the transaction stream, payment details, etc. I know PayPal manages the transaction stream and users' actual payment details, but in my experience with paying via PayPal, it is a laborious process, especially if done on a recurring basis. You fill your shopping cart, review it, then check out. You are forwarded to Paypal to log in, and then have to confirm yet another payment and select a funding source. Then you are forwarded back to the vendor's page. That is way too many clicks, and is especially not ideal for a mobile user. What PayPal Permissions sounds like to me, as the developer of an online event registration system, is that PayPal users can grant my service "permission" to process their PayPal payments without the roundabout process. When a user is logged in on my site, they register for an event, and when they click the "check out" button, a request is sent in the background to PayPal without leaving my site. Can someone please confirm if this understanding is correct? If so, this would be a fabulous solution to both streamlining and outsourcing the payment processing.
