Hi, I've got a question about the emails that PayPal sends when you receive a payment. I have an etsy shop, and for a while now I have been replying to those "Payment Received" emails--because when you hit reply it goes directly to the customer (not to PayPal). Note how the emails appear in your in box with the customer's email address. So, I was thinking that this was a really easy way to quickly get in touch with my customers, let them know I'd received there payment and would get to work on their custom item, and ask any questions I might need to. It's worked out fine for me to do that, but I've become more concerned about scammers lately and I'm taking a second look at everything I do to make sure I stay safe. What I've noticed is that the Payment Received notification includes Transaction ID, Invoice ID and Receipt ID numbers, none of which apparently are shared with the customer on their end. Is there a reason the seller gets these numbers, but the buyer does not? And is the practice of sharing this record (by replying to the email and in effect sending it to them) ill-advised? I'd really like to hear something official from PayPal on this, but welcome any feedback others may have. Thanks.
