An eCheque is an electronic funds transfer that transfers money directly from your buyer’s bank account to your PayPal account. It's just like writing a cheque, only it’s done electronically. eCheques differ from Instant Bank Transfers, as they are not instant payments. With eCheque payments, the buyer’s bank account will be debited when the transaction is initiated. However, the transaction status will remain pending until you receive the funds within 5 to 7 working days later.
You can see the status of your eCheque payment by following these steps:
Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
Click 'History' near the top of the page.
Find the eCheque payment and then check the ‘Payment status’ column:
Cleared: The funds transfer to the recipient has completed
Uncleared: The transaction is still processing from the bank
Failed: We were unable to obtain the funds from your bank and the payment to the recipient has not completed
Cancelled: You have cancelled the eCheque. If you cancel an eCheque the funds will still be withdrawn from your bank account but will be credited to your PayPal account balance
Returned: The funds have been sent back to your PayPal account balance. Please note that it can take 5 - 7 business days from the date the payment was initiated for the funds to appear in the PayPal balance
