Hi I reckon this is one for PayPal to answer. I have a credit card issued by a UK bank, I keep this card operational even though I now live in the EU. All the billing details correspond to the EU address. I can use this card to buy stuff direct from the UK in pounds sterling - its useful as the bank is a UK bank, no conversion fees. I can also use the card in any shop in the EU. However, if I want to pay for anything using paypal, they refuse to accept the card. This is a concern, I would like to pay my shopping cart provider in pounds sterling, but they take payment through paypal and PayPal wont accept the card. I tried to buy something off my own website, Paypal wont accept the card. Basically its because the card has an EU address not a UK one, but its fine with the issuing bank. Many of my customers may well have UK bank issued cards that they would like to use, why does Paypal refuse payment on such cards - they are perfectly valid cards that can be used all over europe, or indeed all over the world. BUT not on PAYPAL ! ! ! PalPal please resolve this as its you that is out of step.

Thanks Paypal - Barry It is a pity Paypal don't actually make this stuff obvious from the outset. Reading though many of the problems on this forum it seems that quite a few of them would not arise if the forms on Paypal were a bit more forthcoming with their information. Often people that work with them all the time do not see the difficulties because they already know the answers, but for people coming from the outside into Paypal, the forms can be difficult, often instructions don't actually match up with what appears on our screens, or you find yourself directed, following paypals own links, to pages that don't exist anymore etc. etc. I think it is often a problem with large companies where the websites have been updated repeatedly that information / directions for doing stuff don't actually work quite the way they are described. Anyway, thanks again for all your help.

Hi Siobhan, Thanks for the response. I will copy it and paste it somewhere for later use - perhaps. Only yesterday, we opened another bank account, one in which I can accept payments as me or as the business, so before doing any changes anywhere I will wait and see when all the info comes through. I really need to get this up and running as soon as possible. I have also found where to change the language back to french, never where it was supposed to be ! ! but at least I can now contact paypal. I would sooner contact them in english so will keep this forum as an option. Thanks again. I will assume that what you suggest would work if all else fails.

I must admit, I am finding this whole thing a bit scary. I am just in the process of signing up to paypal, all I need is for them to receive payments, both I and the customer need to know that they are secure, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that Paypal is not particularly professional in the way they treat clients. I have just tried to respond to a Paypal survey and guess what, it dies on me halfway through, so I can't even tell them that they haven't sorted my problems. I am rapidly giving up hope. I need something that is secure and works.

OK, I know I live in France, so I am registered with paypal france, but it all appears to be linked anyway. None of the contact us buttons work, I just get asked to change my language settings as help is not available in english, however, when I go to my account / profile where it says I should be able to change these settings - you've guessed it, there is no way to change any settings. The way paypal works is surely the same throughout europe, so why can I not get help in english? or indeed, can't get help in french either.

Hi Just about to tear my hair out having spent the last couple of weeks struggling with 'the computer says No' syndrome. I have just set up a business paypal account to handle my online transactions. The Paypal account is in my name, the business name is listed as the business name. Then tried to add a bank account to receive my hard earned cash. The second paragraph on the add bank account page requests that I enter my name exactly as it appears on my bank account. Problem. There is nowhere in which to put said name ! ! ! So after filling in the bank name, town and account number, it assumes that the bank account name is the business name. AND to make matters worse none of the contact us links allow me to contact anyone. So, what am I supposed to do when things go wrong - pray? Sorry, its the result of going round and round and round in circles (not even ever decreasing circles - just circles)
