The moderators seem to be avoiding this topic on 6/8/11 I can't post the address it came from here, but it looks OK. It appears carefully worded and vetted by legal and marketing pros (that could be why it's devoid of clarifying info!) . Anyway, I keep my default browser up-to-date (though not IE). Here's an except from the text version of the email: Go to: paypal.com/safebrowser https://email0.paypal.com/servlet/cc6?<long string of chars without punctuation> The URL looks legit to me, but spoof told me the email was bogus. I suspect spoof is automated so it might flag an email as a scam if there isn't of copy of a legitimate one in its database (yet). The plot thickens: I went to paypal. com but couldn't log in until I accepted statements by email. So I got my first monthly statement notification and it is full of links like "Recover your password". There's no actual account info in the email, so what's the point except to get you to click a link? Here's an interesting excerpt: To keep getting info about your account electronically - including your account statements - please accept our Electronic Communications Delivery Policy. Log in to accept now https://email0.paypal.com/servlet/cc6?<long string of chars without punctuation> If I'm receiving the email because I already agreed to why is it asking me again? I went back to the website and found there was no way to opt out of the Electronic Comms Delivery. Oh yeah, spoof said this one was bogus, too. I dunno what to think--maybe I'll go back to writng checks.
