Close My Account - But How?

When I try to send an email to Paypal to CLOSE MY ACCOUNT, I get the online version of "Peggy" from Paypal, in the form of "Sarah" (I guess they had to change the name to protect the guilty), but, no customer service.   What else could I expect from Paypal's "Peggy"?   Anyone got any ideas how to contact an actual, live human being using email? ... Just an update on the Paypal problem for everyone.   It has been over a month now, and, still my funds are held hostage by Paypal.  I am considering legal action against Paypal, although, it will cost more to file the lawsuite than I stand to loose if I let Paypal steal the funds from me.     But, sometimes you just gotta punch the bully in the eye.    A sharp stick might be a better choice, though......... ... How To Detect Fraud

One good way to detect an attempted fraud of your Paypal account is to look out for things that just don't make sense to any normal person.     A good example of this is, say you have been doing business on Ebay  and using Paypal for a good number of years now, have hundreds of successful transactions under your belt, and then it happens.     You get a message supposedly from Paypal that says something like:   Your Paypal account has been limited       or      For security purposes, please link a credit card to your PayPal account to confirm your address. We won't charge your card unless your PayPal account doesn't have enough money to cover the payment.   Now, you know from many past transactions, that funds are available in your Paypal account and your valid credit card is already linked to your account, so, the above message could not possibly be a valid message from Paypal.    You have just detected an attempt to gather your credit card information by a party other than an official Paypal officer.    This scam is perpetuating on a continual basis and seems to be increasing in both volume and frequency over time.  Contacting Paypal and Ebay does absolutely no good.   They assume that you are confused and need to reread the "terms of service" agreements of their respective organizations a couple of more times to get your head straight.   Best thing that one can do when such a message is displayed is to find another auction service or another payment service, start over with a new user name and a new password, and don't look back.   Paypal will not release your funds,   They are gone.   Ebay will not moderate a complaint against Paypal, as Paypal is owned by Ebay, and, therefore a partner to the theft of your funds.    Best you can hope for is devine intervention, but, don't hold your breath on that suggestion.   ... Don't feel alone there, hoss.   I have been an Ebay and a Paypal customer for over 9 years now and Paypal is refusing to pay sellers of items that I bid on and won on Ebay.    I have much more than enough funds in my Paypal account to cover the charges, yet Paypal is refusing to pay.   Not only that, I tried to close my Paypal account and get the remaining funds to manually pay the sellers on Ebay, and Paypal will not close the account and send me my funds.   They have, in effect, stolen the funds that they were supposed to be paying Ebay sellers with.   And the bad part is, I just don't know what to do about it.   I have contacted both Ebay and Paypal and requested resolution of this problem and have gotten nothing but bull**bleep** from both "Customer Service" departments.     I am surprised that jurisdictional law enforcement agencies are not **bleep** deep investigating the theft of peoples money by both Ebay and Paypal.    If what Paypal is doing is not theft, then, the term needs to be redefined.  ... I recently hit the $10,000 limit with Paypal and they will not budge on their policy.   I have been transacting business without the use of Paypal and only a few sellers and buyers will not work around Paypal's ignorant, self depricating policy.    I will not open a bank account just for Paypal and I do not give third parties access to funds that I have not approved in advance.   To do so is asking for financial ruin.      How foolish of Paypal!   They get a good cut of the action anyway, to run off customers who have processed $10,000 worth of  business through their company with 100% satisfaction rating, is just plain stupid.    I cannot say it any other way.    Paypal policy is STUPID, IGNORANT, INCONSIDERATE, UNETHICAL, AND CRASS.     Maybe, one day, when competition arises and cooks their goose, they will change their policy.     Or, maybe, a good number of lawsuites would wake the sleeping sloth.   I dunno........ ... I received a nearly identical email that wanted me to open a bank account, just to remain a customer of Paypal.   I sent the email to spoof@paypal.com and hope that they have addressed the issue appropriately.      In any communication with Paypal, you should be the initiator of contact, not a response to an email.   The tricksters are getting pretty good at scamming not only Paypal customers, but, customers and users of many online services, including Craigslist and Overstock.     If there is any question if an email that appears to be from Paypal is fraudulent, forward the entire email to spoof@paypal.com.   Paypal recommends deleting it, but, I have a tendency to keep them in a special folder, just in case they are needed for prosecution of a criminal fraudster.     I do not intend to open a bank account just to do business with Paypal.   If the email was for real, then, I will find another method of payment and adjust my transactions accordingly.   Paypal will loose a long time customer.  When enough of Paypal's customers follow suite, they will be eligible for a Chapter 13  or Chapter 11 status.     ... Really not sure which set of "clowns" that you were alluding to in your reply; the Homeland Security clowns, or, the Paypal clowns.    Both are an intrusive lot and should be avoided.   Both groups have good intentions, and, as we all know, the road to **bleep** is paved with good intentions.       ...
