I used to love using my PayPal Extras Mastercard. However, I am just about ready to give it up due to the monthly frustrations involved with dealing with the Synchrony Bank web site. I log in to PayPal, follow links that land me at the Synchrony Bank site for my card, and go to view my statement. And then I'm stuck. I can't go back from the statement to my card account overview or to any place I can pay my balance from or even to the main PayPal site. Clicking any back button available simply gets the statement reloaded. All I can do is close my browser and start over. This happens with multiple internet browsers, so it's not just a quirk of how the Syncrhony site deals with, say, Google Chrome, my preferred browser. But even if it was, what's the deal with the web site being unable to function properly with one of the major browsers in use? I attempted emailing the folks at PayPal about this. I got a response from someone in the PayPal Credit department politely saying, 'not our department, so not our problem' and suggesting I try calling the Mastercard folks. Of course that misses the point. The Mastercard folks are at Synchrony Bank, and the point of my original email to PayPal was that the company puts their name on and encourages us to use these Mastercards, but that the bank servicing the cards has a shoddy website. Essentially then, the PayPal reps response was, 'talk to the bank, we don't want to hear about it.' In any case, I know PayPal reps read at least some of these posts, so here is then my second attempt at offering some feedback to the company from someone who has been a longtime loyal customer. Perhaps others who have had similar issues with the Synchrony Bank website might want to chime in as well.
