Hello. Currently I use my paypal account to receive my payments from Prolific (academic survey/study site), and I am currently approaching the $600 threshold where I need to confirm my tax id, which is all good and dandy except I don't feel comfortable giving out my SSN. I am very conservative with my financial information and the only people who know my SSN are me, the IRS, and my credit union. I understand the law requires paypal to prove my tax id, but I do not wish to submit my SSN under any circumstances. Instead of being placed on hold for 60 days (this money I receive is very important to me), am I able to forfeit my hold, which is designed to be a grace period, and begin paying the IRS the 24% right away? I would like to sort out my tax info with them on my own when tax season rolls around. Also, I would be happy to submit information proving my identity that doesn't involve a SSN (if that is at all possible). I appreciate any help that can be given here, and am willing to work out a solution. Thank you
