You used to always be able to change payment methods when checking out with paypal, but in the last several months, it often doesn't give you the option to switch from your "preferred method" at point of sale. You are offered no choices other than the single preferred method. At that point, you have to cancel the transaction, go back into paypal and change the preferred method, which sometimes doesn't happen instantly. Then, once the new preferred method is finally available, you can go back and complete the purchase. Then, you have to go back again and change your preferred method back to the original one. It's become very inconvenient, to say the least! Not only that, but with recurring monthly payments, they sometimes randomly charge the non-preferred account with no warning or explanation - and yes I have followed their directions to set up the proper automatic recurring payment accounts separately. Still happens. Try to talk to their chat because I am not able to make a phone call, and the chat bot tells me no agents are available - in the middle of a weekday & to try during regular business hours, but it also can't tell me what those hours are. I am exploring new options besides paypal. They don't make clear when they change their policies, and their explanations and customer service are rarely helpful. They do not seem to value customers very much - it's like you are bothering them. End of rant! 😠
