Welcome! Thank you for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. I'm sorry to hear there's been some confusion verifying your account and a recent transaction. You do not need to pay anyone to verify your account, so yes, unfortunately this does not sounds like a legitimate situation. You should never receive a receipt from both PayPal and Square for the same transaction as we are two different payment processors. I would not recommend sending any more funds to this receiver.
