I arranged a pay-in-3 to send £539 to Halfords. Presumably due to an error with Halford's website, the order was not raised in any way, and Halfords did not receive the money. In spite of this, Paypal took the first of three payments of £179 from my bank account. I told them to refund the amount, and Paypal responded by deducting £179 from the full amount I still have to pay, like some sick joke, and then blamed me for not specifing that I wanted the full amount cancelled, because apparently it's not obvious that I don't want to pay £360 for a product I don't have. They refuse to correct this mistake, and intent to continue charging me monthly. This is really more a cautionary tale, than a request for help. It'd be great if anyone knew how to get Paypal to relinquish the funds they took illegitimately, but I'm mostly posting this just to warn people not to use Paypal Pay-in-3, because the company clearly has no integrity.
