This post is due to receiving an email from PayPal (not Braintree) stating if I lack further evidence than already provided - they encourage acceptance of pre-arbitration losses.   I feel like, if I want to stay with Braintree & PayPal I can either accept pre-arbitration losses (it's not the cost of 1 or 2 it's the cost of becoming a target for thieves) and that will lead other thieves to post that I am an easy target to get free merchandise (just file a false claim) or I can fight it and what was automatically part of my free service for using PayPal as my payment processor, may now cost me hundreds of dollars to be protected by PayPal.   I have been using PayPal and their other services for about 15 years and this change in their policy is quite a shock.   ... I believe PayPal/Braintree opened Pandora's box for online thieves with their change in policy when a customer appeals a decision So once the word gets out more, everyone will appeal the decision and PayPal’s protection of merchants will be 100% worthless.   I already have 2 people who called me to verify what my payment processor is before they order, one very specifically asked me if I use Braintree since I also use PayPal.  I believe one is the same person who filed a claim that she did not receive her products.  I went back as I recognized her voice and I did receive a phone call from her phone # before she ordered.  I was set up thanks to Briantree's new policy, now per the email I received from PayPal it sounds like PayPal is doing the same - charging huge fees to us for using their service if a customer appeals the decision.     You opened Pandora's box because word travels extremely fast.   Now not only Braintree but also PayPal will have a target on it’s back.  My guess is claims & more so appeals will double in the next 3 years as word to the thieves get out.  I already have 2 from Braintree which prove that to me.   ... I have a Big Commerce store, the platform recently added Pay Later, I had customers complain that "PayPal  Credit" is not longer an option on my payment.  Also my cart has a "Pay Later" icon but my checkout a "PayPal Credit" icon for payment options.  Per Big Commerce technical support, PayPal now uses the Pay Later and PayPal credit interchangeably because they are the same thing?   So, are they the same thing?  When a customer clicks on either of them, does it bring them to the exact same processing page on PayPal? Pay Later icon PayPal Credit Icon ... View more
