Paypal provides limited options for a customer to justify a dispute. I dont know if it is by design. In November 2020 I came across a franchise store which accepts Paypal as a form of payment. I purchased an item on there and quickly realized it was a store out of China who produces FAKE copies of american products and fraudulently advertise them on their website as BRAND products. Even their website looks legit. While it is not illegal to buy fake products it IS illegal to sell them as the seller is knowingly infringing patents and trademarks of the authentic brand. By allowing these sellers to use paypal I feel Paypal is an accomplice of these illegal sales. As soon as I realized I was buying a fake, I tried to cancel my transaction but Paypal would not let me. They said I authorized the transaction and that was it. I researched this and found out through an attorney that trademark counterfeiting is a class C felony. I feel Paypal is encouraging this to happen by not carefully investigating the businesses which they authorize to use Paypal. since Paypal did not leave me any choice I contacted my bank who is now investigating the transaction. Needless to say I never received a reply from the seller and also never received the item. I am posting this for other buyers' awareness. Now I need Paypal to come clean and authorize my bank to refund me.
