Hi all - my OH bought a Wall Chaser Cutting Machine to channel for electrical wiring from a seller. On the first bit of the advert it says the item is in Switzerland, however, further down it says UK stock, so he bought one. The first time he used it he received a massive electric shock that knocked him across the room, the unit wouldn't then switch off with the switch on the machine and had to be switched off at the plug. This was over the sellers 14 day return period. He contacted the seller who advised it could be sent back for a full refund but that he had to send it to China. It would cost as much to send back there as it cost so he asked to send it back to the UK warehouse where it came from. He responded with the same email again saying the machine had to be returned to China. He contacted paypal for assistance, the only choice he had was to say the item was not as described, there was no option to say the item was faulty and downright dangerous. He explained about the Chinese address and that he couldn't send the item back in its original condition etc etc. Paypal then contacted the seller who advised yes the product could be sent back and the address was yet again the Chinese address. Paypal are not reading what the issue is, in fact we can't choose what the issue is from the choices given and now have until early October when the case will be closed if he doesn't provide tracking number etc. Obviously the machine will not be sent back to China and we don't have the UK address where it came from. To Paypal the seller is doing everything they can. Has anyone experienced anything like this and can offer some advice, is there anything that can be done? They really shouldn't be allowed to get away with selling dangerous goods.
