Re: Linking a bank account - Philippines

I'm struggling with this too! I linked my BPI (Bank of the Philippine Islands) but it's still labeled as "checking" when it's been 2 days. When I linked my Gcash, it literally took a few minutes to have the code sent to me (I'm having problems with Gcash too but the linking was very easy to confirm). From what I've seen, you should try calling your bank for the code as they can't always be seen on online statements and maybe the pandemic means there's limited manpower to sort through it or something. I've also seen that trying to link your card more than 3 times will sort of "freeze" it (not sure what the right term is but basically you can't be linked to PayPal) and you'll have to contact PayPal to undo that so that you can link it again. Kinda worries me because I did unlink and relink my BPI more than once, I can't remember if it was more than 3x and I don't know what the "freezing" of the bank card looks like so I can't tell if that's my problem. I have yet to try calling BPI but I will try to within the week! If you've resolved this already, I'd really appreciate knowing how you solved it/how long it took! I hope this sort of helped? ... I can't pay with my linked prepaid MasterCard anym...

I'm new to PayPal and I linked my Gcash MasterCard,  it's a prepaid MasterCard, to my PayPal and it linked. But when I tried to buy something online from Depop, it asked me to link another debit/credit card. I didn't have any other cards so I put in the details of my Gcash MasterCard again and it said it linked, but then after clicking "Done" it just brought me back to the screen asking me to link another debit/credit card again 😞 I had tested it out before to see if I could pay with PayPal (by having someone send my email a request) and it worked -- I didn't pay but like all I had to click was "Pay Now" and the transaction would have gone thru. But when I tried it again by having another email payment request sent after the Depop failure, PayPal now keeps asking me to "Please add a payment option" whether it's for a friend or a business transaction. And whenever I input the details for my Gcash Mastercard it just goes back to that screen asking me to "please add a payment option" again.  I'd also like to add that when I tried to buy from Depop, I ended up having to use the option to pay with a bank or credit card, but the transaction wasn't processed by Depop/PayPal (the item wasn't marked as sold to me even though I clicked the "Buy Now" method), it was the same thing where Depop just reloaded the page and asked me to input my card details but I got charged for the amount of the item I was trying to buy. The money hasn't shown up in the seller's PayPal balance, and she wasn't notified by PayPal that I paid. I'm trying to settle that with Gcash but I just want to be able to pay for the item and I don't know why it isn't working when it worked the first time. Please help 😞 I know someone who uses Gcash too and this hasn't happened to her so I don't know what's wrong... ... View more
