On May 3rd of 2024, I sent a check to Paypal to cover the amount I owed on my account. The amt I wrote was a couple of dollars over what I owed. I heard nothing from Paypal for a month and spent hours on the phone with their collections dept insisting I sent it. They finally told me to just go to my bank, apply for a debit card and send more money that way. While I was at the bank, the teller asked me for the amt I'd sent already. She found the check I sent to Paypal and said it had been cashed AND had Paypal's stamp on it. She gave me a copy. I spent another hour on the phone and was rerouted to 3 different guys who all asked the same questions over and over, but ultimately insisted that they didn't get the check. I said I HAVE THE COPY Of the check and can send it so Paypal can see. NO ONE Cares that I already paid and that I have evidence that they cashed it on June 6th.  How can I get anyone at Paypal to care enough to show them that they got the money twice now? ... View more

thank you, Kernowlass, but I'm fortunate that you weren't correct. I was able to contact customer svc in much less than the "hours" estimated by the system when I logged in to chat.  She told me what was missing from the docs I'd sent before, so I sent them again while she waited. She got everything she needed and made the name change to my full name instead of my initials. ... View more

I signed up years ago with just my first initial. Now I need to spell out my first name.  On the "update name" page, I uploaded the requested docs: a pic of my driver license and a pic of my bank statement. The bank statement showed only the top of the page but included my full name, address, bank account number, name of bank with logo, etc... After a week,  Paypal denied the update. The reason is vague, but seems to suggest that I didn't provide the full page. I don't know if that means the driver license was cut off or if they want the entire bank statement.  First off, why not be more specific about what is needed so we don't have to guess? Second, if it's the bank statement, why would Paypal need to see how much money is in our bank accounts?  There needs to be a REALLY good reason for that,  especially since I don't know who will see that info or will have access to that account, my picture ID and ALL information necessary to steal my ID and empty my bank account. ...
