Following completion of a £100 donation to Fauna &Flora I received an email from PayPal titled "We noticed a new device login". I have only ever used the same device throughout my use of PayPal, namely, my laptop 'Edge Windows 10'. The email from PayPal refers to this and it appears to be a remembered device but the next line reads "middlesbrough mdb uk". Who or what is this? Thinking it might be the payee's identity I asked Fauna & Flora if it was them or their bank but they said their bank is in Cambridge. Have I been hacked or scammed? Thank you. ... View more

I have put a vintage Stanley knife on the USA site ebay.com because it is contrary to ebay.uk's firearms policy and they won't list it. I am a new ebay lister living in the UK. I have had a message - in Spanish - from someone who says he has tried to send payment to PayPal but I have declined it. I haven't. I am assuming the prospective buyer is in the USA and that he tried to pay in dollars. In my listing I have made it clear that I do not post/ship the item to non-UK addresses. (Whether or not the prospective buyer understands this I do not know but that is to one side of my query now). To receive a payment for an item listed on ebay.com - in dollars - should I have done something to my (UK?) PayPal account that has worked perfectly well for a myriad of UK (and the odd Chinese) purchases so that it can accept payments in the USA? In dollars?
