You've probably gotten past this by now, but for anyone else who has this issue, here's the answer. Kana is a phonetic "alphabet". You can use Google Translate (web page or app) to translate your name into Kana. Input in English and translate to Japanese. Kana (Katakana for foreign words, Hiragana for Japanese words) isn't hard to learn though and if you're living in Japan it would be a good idea to learn it. Keep in mind that not all English sounds exist in the Japanese language. For example, I'm assuming the OP's name is Sonni (sunny). "Suh" sound doesn't exist in Japanese. You have the freedom to chose how to represent your name in Katakana, just be consistent. Once you pick one, always use that one. BTW, I tried to write your name here in Katakana but the form doesn't allow it. I got "The message body contains (and listed the first katakana character), which is not permitted in this community. Please remove this content before sending your post." ROFL God forbid there should be foreign characters in this forum!!
