There has to be something done befor itis entirely too late regarding "Newbies" to ebay .
I hope that I am speaking for many of the "experienced sellers" regarding the negative feedback.
How many of you have noticed as I have and actually done some fairly lengthy research of many many many of the sellers that have high feedback numbers but do not have a 100%, NOT necessarily by any fault what so ever of the seller.
Specifically I as many other sellers are buyers as well. When deciding to place a bid or to do a Buy it now I do take a glance at the feedback score, as unfair as I feel they are as honestly so there are some sellers that honestly do deserve the negative rating they receive as I am not saying that all sellers are persfect as we know that is not possible by any means as each individual buyer has their own expectations of what exactly they expect, some reasonable and some not so much!
What specifically I am getting to is I have noticed that when a feedback score is less than a perfect 100% I do take a look to see the reason as I am sure many do, this alone by haveing a less than 100% is not a deal breaker for me to decide that I choose to not do business with the seller. I can say that after 6 years on Ebay that a very high percentage of negative feedback is given by "newbies" , take a look at random sellers in various catagories and you will see exactly what I am referring to. I know many of you reading this are wondering what does this have to do with PayPal? Please, let me take a few moments of your time to explain.
After coming to realize the fact that MANY of the negative feedback scores come from the "newbies" I had often wondered WHY there were not some type of a filter or some type of process that a buyer would have to go through to be able to post a negative feedback. Many of the negative feedbacks are given to sellers that have a long track record of both buying and selling but it is the selling that is the point of concern for me on at this time.
As a seller we are not able to give a negative feedback for a buyer regardless of how much trouble, problems the cause, case they open against us as a seller over a specific item, slow in paying, on and on as I am positive that each seller has had their share of buyers that looking back they wish they had never had bid or buy their items just becouse of all of the headaches they give and yet we are to give 200% regardless of what they do or say to us and what roadblocks they pose for us to give them the "expected" perfect transaction. regardless of how hard and diligently we strive to give such .
Do yourself a favor and start taking note of the negative feedback scores that you see and how many are from buyers with a less than 300 feedback. If as a seller we do not leave the POSITIVE feedback as that is our ONLY option other than not leaving any at all then we are considered to not be compliant in completing the sale so there we are once again as sellers as we have no other options available to us, a rock, ebay / P.P and a hard spot take your choice!
One would think with as much as we all pay in fees they could hire someone to figure out that there should be some type of limitations or requirements for the protection of the sellers, why is the protection for BUYERS ONLY on feedback?
You ask what does this have to really do with P.P or Ebay? Let me tell you.
IF a seller is able to get and retain a 100% feedback score that COSTS both EBAY AND P.P MONEY! How you ask, With the 100% you are now given the PREFERRED SELLER / POWER SELLER badge ..WOO HOO! Thats a huge plus right ? In getting and obtaining a sale of the items that WE as sellers purchase and list ( oops ! and PAY to list) . By obtaining the Power Seller Badge we are given a VERY generous discount on shipping ( but it is made up in other fees they now charge us) So this in "effect" costs Ebay and P.P $$$$ by giving these minute discounts on shipping costs BUT ONLY if you use the online shipping! By BOTH Ebay and P.P. in conjunction with each other itis beneficial for Ebay to make it even more difficult to achieve such ratings as it is to their benefit to hand out as many obstacles and rules making it nearly impossible to achieve and if ACHIEVED TO KEEP THIS RATING, the benefit for them you now ask? They no longer will give you the "ever so important" badge and along with that you "BAD SELLER< NO DICOUNT!" also pay a higher fee! A higher fee is money in the bank for both Ebay and P.P. So bottom line is this ...WHO IS BENEFITING ?
With more and more rules making things next to impossible to do business on line they will soon start seeing people leaving with, more Flea markets popping up, Craigs List getting busier ( DID I mention ...NO FEES HERE!) Ebid, Bonzel and many many more sites all taking the market share in time if someone dosent stop and remember it is the SELLERS that keep this site going ! NO successful business ever kept its door open by taking and taking and not giving back, saying thank you to the main supporters that keep the doors open no the listers with NO STORES that ONLY use the site for the 50 FREE listings and thats it. Ok EYES OPEN AND TAKE A BIG LOOK at the ENTIRE PICTURE PEOPLE !
And NOW they want to charge us fees on the postager that the USPS charges us, in effect they are working as a broker for the USPS and reselling their service as it is used inconjunction with the ebay site, we pay pay pal for the postage etc. Get the idea ??? Is this NOT illegal? I truely and STRONGLY beleive that Ebay and P.P are both in kahoots with one another as one scratches the back of the other by knowing the USPS has RAISED THE RATES OF POSTAGE and NOW charge us a percentage of the cost of shipping WE GET NO BENEFIT of the postage paid but Ebay and P.P DO gesh I wou]nder WHY they would ever think of charging the sellers a percentage on the shipping cost too? LOVE the velvet lined gold encrusted diamond studded pockets that are so deep you would need an oxygen tank to reach the bottom of thier pockets, so ...
charge fees on Postage, make it harder to meet "their" requirements so as to charge HIGHER rates by removing Power seller and Preferred seller badges, easy and no reprocussion for negative feedback, from buyers causing feedback scores to drop = HIGHER fees, who is making it and whi is getting a ROYAL .......! Anyone know of an attorney to look into these points , a possibility of a huge class action with a REFUND to all of us that have paved the driveways of Ebay and P.P. in gold for so many years!
Look on Google search and you CAN find processors for Credit cards and debit cards ELIMINATING the need for P.P. I am looking in to it further and what I have foundis it is MUCH less than what I am paying NOW! and NO ONE taking control of my account, freezing MY MONEY and telling me I have to do this and that or I will be "punished" I am a big kid, really I am and I think I am quite aware of customer service and how to run a business, I have only been in business for the last 29 years! I dont need either of them being my BIG BROTHER !

New sellers and non store owners are entitled to the money promised them. like me, i am a college student looking to make some money off of ridiculously priced books. i turn around and sell them for a lesser value to gain back some of what i lost. how is this post even fair? everyone who sells anything valid is entitled to the funds promised them. It should not be a favorites game. in fact, it shouldn't be a game at all. maybe someone else needs to step back and take a look at the bigger picture

You are exactly right we are to get the funds we are promised as are Ebay and P.P., so why are the profits we do make being taken by P.P and EBay simply for allowing us to list and sell the items we have, The more expensive the items are the higher the fees become to list as well as final fees not to mention the fees for P.P. Why can't they take a set fee to list the items regardless of the final selling price of the items? I agree they should make some money as well but why should they be allowed to keep increasing the rules, adding senceless fess and still act as though they are the law as far as what and how things are to be done, the time frames allowed to do them etc. Simply put pay for what you get but at the same time leave a little bit for the sellers. Many other posts break down exactly how much is taken on a simple $1.00 sale when all the numbers are crunched it leaves little more than crumbs for the ones actually trying to make a few bucks here and there. I have stood back and take a good look over the last 6 years selling and finally decided that enough is enough.
Being tolds that one needs to improve the way they write a description, really? I give more details in my listings than many give in ten listings combined yet they give a grade tro the seller if the "buyer" or those that be look over the feedback and decide it dosent meet what "they" feel is good contact etc. I palso buy my postage online with Ebay, the tracking is automatically loaded and sent to the buyer, feedback is given as soon as shipping is sent out, my items are sent the same or nextr day if the mail has ran already for that day and yet I NEED TO IMPROVE MY CONTACT WITH THE BUYER AND SEND IN A MORE TIMELY FASHION, oh please ! OH AND YET TO SAY THEY TELL ME i AM CHARGING TOO MUCH FOR POSTAGE? I DO NOT CHARGE ANY HANDLING FEE AT ALL, I PAY FOR ALL INSURANCE AND YETR I NEED TO LOWER MY SHIPPING FEES AS THEY ARE TO HIGH! REALLY ? HONESTLY ...REALLY ? DO THEY EVEN THINK OR KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING? NO I THINK THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE TOO H ***h !
