Instant payment made from my bank account instead of my credit card

I have made 2 purchase this week.

1. The first one, funds were taken from my Paypal balance. Hmmm didn't want that to happen because I wanted to make payment with my credit card so that my buyer's protection would be in place if there was a problem. Withdrew my balance so that wouldn't happen again.

2. Second one, instant payment was made without my knowledge frm my bank account. Again I didn't want that to happen because I wanted my credit card to take the payment for the same reasons as stated above.

YES I have my credit card as my prerred payment method and have unchecked the bank account option.

I was not given the option at the checkout to choose my preferred payment.

My question "Why is this happening?" I want my payments to be made with my Credit card. not my bank account.

Thank you

I was having problems with pay pal and they kept telling me that I needed to add my banking account to my account. I informed them that I only wanted to use my credit card because of the protection that it has. But then I was told that I could apply for their credit card, I think ebay and pay pal are trying to get into the banking business.

First of all Paypal will always use the funds from you paypal balance first.

Then from your bank account, UNLESS, you click on the blue link that says "more funding options" and choose the credit card.

You will have to do this each time you pay.

Thank you. I never saw that link, and I was looking for it, so obviously PP/Ebay is trying to make it more difficult for you to choose that option by making the link obscure..

Another "gotcha" from the Ebay gang.
