HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

They have someone available to sit online all day and funnel everyone's complaints into one thread, but they don't have some available to explain why.

As promised my fellow Ebay sellers, I keep calling. I know, I wish I could be doing better things w/ my time. BUT, I really do get a sense that EBay is starting to re-consider this draconian RULE in place. At least in my situation where 4/197 gave me a 1 or 2 in shipping (I let EBay calculate my shipping Btw...I lose money on every shipping transaction when you calculate shipping materials, gas and time at the post office.)

One thing Ebay is good at doing is answering there CALL US hotline. I usually get someone on in a minute. I just keep asking the questions and explaining how its crippled my business to a point where I can't feed my family and I'm putting off certain bills. The lady I spoke to today said this has become a reoccuring issue at their "Meetings". Obviously it could all be "Talk" but if we KEEP ON THEM something good may come of it.

I was just sick of taking it on the chin and doing nothing. Emails don't get responded to. Calling and taking THEIR TIME may be our only option. Class Action Suit would be nice but most of us only SAY THIS (Me included.) I guess what I'm trying to say is if we all just put in a little time to VOICE OUR CONCERNS, maybe we'll get this reversed. Hey, Bank of America folded. Verison Folded on their $2 fee to just pay your bill. Hopefully EBAY/PAYPAL is next. Keep it up my friends.

Don't be fooled.  eBay and PayPal pulled the old "good cop, bad cop" routine on me, and I now have zero trust for either organization.  PayPal originally told me that the hold placed on my account was due to a request by PayPal and that they were not responsible for the hold.  They then transferred me to eBay.  When I explained my concern and asked why they (eBay) had placed a hold on my account, they admitted after review that a hold was not appropriate for my account and that it would be released immediately.  It was, and shortly after that phone call, I had an item sell.  Payment from that sell was available immediately, and I relaxed a little, feeling that the situation had been resolved.  However, the next morning I received an email from PayPal informing me that they were now placing a hold on my funds.  When I called PayPal, they told me that this was a new hold placed by PayPal this time, and that they would review my account again in 35 days.  I have a sneaky suspicion that were I not closing my PayPal and eBay accounts, in 35 days the hold would be removed by PayPal and a new one requested by eBay the next day.

The really funny part is that these are the same people that you count on to fairly arbitrate any dispute you may have with a buyer.  Boy, doesn't that just make you feel warm and fuzzy all over?

I placed a call into PayPal for the message From now on, money you receive will be temporarily held in a pending balance."

First, the reason was I do not have tracking numbers. I kindly proved each item I sold has a tracking number to the PayPal employee. I got the run-around so I asked for a supervisor. Next, the reason was because of the services I'm selling. My response to that was I'm not selling services, I'm selling things in order to make rent, bills, carpayment and so on. She verified that.

I still have no answer as to why I have to wait 21 days before I can get any incoming money.

Can someone help me please?

I completed my first transaction on Ebay and was paid by the buyer and the buyer has received their goods and is happy with it.  It shows "In Process" on my account - for which there is no explanation on the site as to what this status means and I haven't been able to get through all the automated help either online or on the phone to talk to someone as to why 22 days later, I still do not have access to my money.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reach a live person at paypal to look at my account and get it corrected?

WHILE PAYPAL IS HOLDING MY MONEY THEY ARE ACCRUING INTEREST ON THAT MONEY AND KEEPING IT, IF IT'S MY MONEY THEY ARE HOLDING THEN THE INTEREST ON THAT MONEY IS MINE NOT THEIRS. THEREFORE THEY ARE RIPPING ME AND EVERYONE ELSE OFF. WHICH ADDS UP TO QUITE A CHUNK OF CHANGE. THAT MONEY IS NOT THERE'S AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. WE ARE BEING SCAMMED.

It is obvious - PayPal is keeping your money so that THEY can make more interest from it sitting in their account.  21 days is the usual time for a billing schedule to "turn around".  Therefore, they are making MILLIONS in 21 days -  from your money.

I'm very dissappointed with the manner in which PayPal has handled my very first transaction. After doing everything they required to get verified (including linking to my bank account), after they recieved payment from my first customer, I received a message saying that I would have to wait 3 weeks to receive payment that they received the same day! I have a membership site so I'm not sending anything to my customer. They have access to my site & I construct fitness plans for them, so they HAVE received their product and I have to wait 3 weeks to get paid? I've used other vendors ( SQUARE ) and the payment is in my account the next day! To make it worse, I received an email from PayPal saying I have money waiting, but when I log in to my account there is no record of any transaction! I put in the transaction number and nothing shows up! Someone please help me to undertsand why I can't even find the transaction, while the customer has been charged & I have given them their product. Seems like I'm getting **bleep**ed:(

I totally agree. I've been a loyal customer for 7 years and I have 100% positive feedback, I am very conscientious how I do business, ship right away, never had a dispute, etc. But they put a hold on my account this month and could not explain why.  Somehow I am now a "high-risk".  Total BS.  This is not how you treat loyal, honest customers - accuse them of being dishonest.
