HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

@Profits wrote:I can't believe any attorney would even be willing to give you the time of day. I also can't believe you'd be willing to retain an attorney over such a trivial situation. You're a fool. And about this "Paypal has already broken 7 things" nonsense; what does that even mean? Paypal does thousands of transactions per day. If the total number of Paypal's problems for the lifetime of the company amounts to 7 for chargebacks, complaints, disputes, and fraud, that's a pretty solid number by anyone's standards.
I'm pretty sure that both the attorney general and your attorney have better things to be doing with their time than being concerned about a 21 day hold on funds transferred to your Paypal account.
Good luck, you're going to need it.
Profits, I see you are new to these 103 pages of posts--did paypal send you to replace Paul. I agree with djten--you might want to enlighten yourself to read some of the previous posts.
I love that you think no attorney would be interested in this case?? You obviously have no idea.
I shall post again a response I made several days ago

I was getting ready to close down my laptop for the night when I remembered I wanted to read another article on Snopes:
FOR ALL OF THE POSTERS THAT THINK A CLASS ACTION IS A JOKE--CHECK OUT THIS LINK:
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/paypal.asp
Apparently eBay/Paypal have held funds before. This class action suit was filed in 2002 and Ebay settled out of court admitting no wrong doing for the tidy sum of a 9.25 million dollars and 3.4 million to pay the attorney's fees and costs.
Again sign up for letssuepaypal.com and get this going!"
So Profits, say what you will there are plenty of attorneys who would be more than willing to take this case and they even have a stronger reason as precedent has been set by the prior class action law suit.
Additionally pay attention to the news and the financial reports to help you out here or try this novel idea and actually read some of the entries on this forum before pronoucing that any postitive actions we take that Bay/Paypal won't care. I check this link throughout the day. http://www.techinvestornews.com/eBay/page-one.html
FYI, last week LouisVuitton won a case for the second time against eBay and the Banking authorities in India have stopped PayPal from conducting buisness in India for failure to comply with India's monetary laws and regulations.
The support in this forum has been good but every now and then we get a know it all like you who just wants to spread negativity. Post again when you have something substantive to contribute.
Oh and some news I just read is that Google is recruiting a top executive from eBay--google checkout is already doing a good business thanks to PayPal's hold policy.

No I just had this happen to me! I am stunned and shocked. That is my money and I will refund the money to my customer and explain to my customer in detail why I have decided not to except payments this way. I am Paypal's customer and they are not business in a fair way. I will refund money!

I BELIEVE THAT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING. MAYBE, IF MORE PEOPLE WENT THE EXTRA STEP, THINGS WOULD START TO HAPPEN. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SHOULD GET INVOLVED WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. THAT IS HIS JOB

As the victim of a scam on Ebay, I think it's perfectly fit that funds are held. I still have no resolution, but hopefully, if this works out i get my money back, since I never got the item.
If you can't afford to spend your own dime on shipping on money that you'll get back eventually, you shouldn't be paying for an internet connection...or the digital camera you bought to take the pictures of that item.
This is business. Large or small, people often have up to a 30-day waiting period for services/products rendered. There's no reason any of you should be any different. If it was a more perfect world, there wouldn't be scammers, and this wouldn't be necessary to protect the BUYERS...you know, the people who help you make money. If you're at all serious about selling your item and protecting yourself, you'd know this is the way to do things in the real world...if not...go to craigslist.

Paypal does not give the buyer everything they want, sellers have won payal disputes as well. A seller is not going to always win a paypal dispute nor is Paypal and get to keep the money if they have no proof that the buyer received the item.
There is a simple solution for sellers to get their funds released quickly if Paypal is holding them, ship the item and give Paypal the tracking number. Paypal is holding it to protect their themselves. Some sellers used to take the money out but the buyer didn't receive the item and the they couldn't get their money back if there where no funds in the sellers accounts. However if they paid by credit card, they could do a chargeback which came out of Paypal's pocket.
Paypal is not only going to protect sellers, They need to be protected as well. The same with buyers, not many buyers is just going to give over their money to a total stranger online without protection, it's just not going to happen. I'm both a seller and a buyer on Ebay but as a buyer, I would go elsewhere if I had no protection. I have been fortunate that the majority of my buying experience including the ones where I didn't receive the item was been with wonderful sellers but I have been scammed twice, the first time losing a $100.00. If a seller doesn't like that Paypal protection doesn't only apply to sellers, they should only offer local pickup.

Only a MORON (and Buyers!) think Sellers selling on approval (what it amounts to!) is a "good" thing. I'm NOT PAYING PayPal for the "privilege" to ship MY Merchandise UNPAID (if it's not CASH in MY HAND it ISN'T PAID FOR) AT MY EXPENSE TO SOME AZZHOLE WHO *MIGHT* PAY ME....
BOTTOM LINE, THERE IS *NO* UPSIDE FOR THE SELLER IN THIS SCENARIO--THEY DON'T HAVE THEIR MERCHANDISE, THEY DON'T HAVE THEIR MONEY AND THEY'RE EVEN OUT THE F_CKING POSTAGE.
AND THEY GET TO SIT AND WAIT AT THE BUYER'S CONVENIENCE TO PICK UP THEIR MAIL (THEY'RE IN NO RUSH--THEY KNOW THE SELLER IS WAITING SO MANY BUYERS DRAG THEIR FEET PICKING UP PACKAGES. IT'S A POWER TRIP THING--THE BUYER *KNOWS* THEY HAVE THE SELLER OVER A BARREL AND THE BUYER IS JUST GONNA TAKE HIS/HER SWEET TIME GETTING THE PACKAGE AND THEN EXAMINING THE MERCHANDISE WITH A MICROSCOPE *HOPING* AND *PRAYING* FOR THE SMALLEST FLAW SO THEY CAN SCREAM THAT THEY ARE "VICTIMS" AND HOW THEY'VE BEEN "F_CKED OVER".
BOTTOM LINE, F-CK THESE ABUSIVE BUYERS AND F_CK PAYPAL--UNLESS THEY GET RID OF THIS 21 DAY BULLS_IT I'M DONE WITH THEM

WE KNOW WHO THIS GUY BELOW VOTED FOR--THE "GREAT" "LEADER" WE HAVE NOW 😉 LOL

Even after seller supplies a tracking number, he has to wait unitl the item is delivered AND THEN WAIT AN ADDITIONAL THREE DAYS, after delivery, TO RECEIVE PAYMENT... Tell me how this is fair????? Know this, that this has nothing to do with protecting the buyers... The longer PayPal hold the funds, the more profit that have.... One last thing, I always send items with a tracking number.(In the past I had number of bad apple buyers who "claimed" that the did not receive their item.. However, the tracking option costs money... Which I do anyway, but not all sellers sell their item/s with enough profit to add on a tracking number... Why not just proof of mailing (The receipt from the post office).. If the item gets lost... It is not the seller who should be held accountable... It is the post office.. Prehaps, PayPal should make it mandatory for buyers to PAY for insurance??? How about it? Protect the Buyers, but have them pay for it!... Just a thought..
