HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

some one new has to own e-bay. This ploy of  holding sellers monies for 21 days makes ebay's quarterly statements look good by holding other peoples money.there is a reason why they are doing this and it smells like goldman sachs and enron. im sure that the folks that started this company had good intentions but when the money got big legal tricks and games took over. Is There such a thing as a honest CEO in american business. We can all make money and provide a service to each other But now the management at the top of e-bay want to sceem all the gravy and cream off the top and leave the small guy with nothing GREED is a disease ebay you are doing something underhanded.. And i hope when it is discovered and proven that someone does time.

I completelety agree with Mikevonbach and that was an excellent post! But one thing: as I said many, many posts ago that you're dealing with big bucks here. We're not dealing with the common "Hang on the corner & drink 40s" criminals. We're taliking about super-high level people with money to operate above the common laws. Good thought, though.

I agree 100 percent!!! Im a new seller on ebay and I just recently talked to a customer service rep from Paypal and she explained to me that my FIRST initial transaction actually goes through smoothly, BUT When you use it after that then your **bleep**ed out of your money for up to 21 days!!! I cannot even begin to express how frustrating that is!! She told me that it gives the new seller a "look" into how paypal SHOULD be ran! A big business like Paypal and Ebay need to step back and look at a transaction from both sides! They seem to be big on the Buyers Security but they don't give two craps about the sellers stand point! Its funny on how these two companies came together to do business...it seems like they don't care at all on how or when the seller gets there money! I am a small business owner from Grand Rapids, MI and Im telling everyone I know about this bull crap service! PAYPAL......PLEASE GET RID OF THIS, OR YOU WILL BE LOOSING A TON OF BUSINESS.

yeah know yeah it **bleep**, but instead of being on her **bleep** about it, there are tons of alternatives, save the arugment 'leave ebay', just choose another, NOW officially allowed ways to pay through ebay, like Propay, PayMate and MoneyBookers, or better yet, get your own merchant account; it would probably not be worth it for a casual seller, but for someone who uses ebay as their major business or a good supplement to their income. It's easier than ever to have a merchant account and the high school dropout selling 'picker' stuff can even get one, it's that easy.

Yes the hold is awful, and yes everyone should complain, but there are alternatives, but there ARE other options.

Good wish but it ain't happenin' fella. Ebay was the first to create the concept of online shopping and selling. And I believe they got this idea right after Windows was created. You can forget PayPal loosing business. In '02 eBay bought PayPal for A BILLION DOLLARS! So you can definitely scrap that. The only time that using PayPal was hassle free was when they first started. It was beautiful then! But like I said before ( and like Mikevonbach wrote), anytime a good thing gets going then the greedy ones want to get their fingers on it.  And MGMT said what I've been saying for the longest: many other selling sites and money transfer systems have sprung up since this blog has blown up. They're not going to get as popular as eBay and PayPal unless we start using them.

What a bunch of crooks, ask yourself who is drawing the interest on these held funds. There are crimes afoot.

Why are my funds still being held if I freaking got positive feedback 24 hours ago and the status of the delivery is "delivered"...

I emailed this problem to the paypal and they gave me a computer generated answer. I'm not gonna spend my time typing an email just to receive one back from a **bleep** computer program.

Yea well I dont know how everyone is feeling about this hold on payment till buyer leaves good feed back you know how often i have sold stuff and buyer was satisified and just didnt feel like leaven feed back mabey to lazy or whatever the reason but that should not be held against me also some things I sell I do not leave option for refund I list it the way it is and provide plenty of pictures. Then there is the customers that get buy on impulse and decide they dont want the item and try to make up any reason to say transaction was bad... I guess if ebay is going to be ok with this im done. Also please consider the cost of shipping is included in that money being held and im not speaking for everyone but if you planed on using the money they sent for shipping to ship the item I am a college student and I honestly dont have alot of spare money layen around I actualy use the money they send for shipping to ship the item... If ebay is supporting this I guess im done with ebay and paypal mabey ebay can find a new company to use other than paypal or get ready to start loosen profits. I am no one but I am smart enough to know that this isnt going to fly with most users...I am not mad just very confused on the concept of holding the funds till customer says they are satisfied wow thats just crazy Im done typing I just get more angry. Just my two cents!

I totally agree with you!!! This is absurd, I sell things because I use the money.  Now I can't get access to my own money.  I am thinking of leaving eBay and just selling on Craigslist.  I don't know who thought up this one but it's ridiculous!!!

Yes, I am very upset with this as well.  I had bought some items for winter for my daughter, and now I can not pay because they are holding my money.  This is downright ridiculous.  I am a single mother, and I sell on here for extra cash..how am I supposed to get this extra cash when they are holding it for 21 days!!!
