HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

You guys are way behind on this discussion forum! But just to bring you all at least a little up to speed on this; it's really not PayPal but eBay who's at fault for this. And that's because eBay has an idiot president that took over in '08 and doesn't have foggiest idea of how to run things! People with money aren't always the smartest. Even I have to backtrack to get up to speed on certain things. But PayPal doesn't do that 21-day hold stuff with other auction sites, which I find quite ironic!

And you guys as well as many, many of us are thoroughly disgusted with them but they are a very widely accepted money transfer system with many online businesses from the smallest to the largest. And because of this, many feel that PayPal will soon break away from eBay.

This has to be one of the biggest downfalls to paypal!  It's bad enough they are an E-Bay company who charges you a 3% fee and then E-Bay is charging up to $50.  What a rip off, I paid $96 in fees on a $1300 sale, and now I have to wait 21 days for me to get my money.  The real problem I have with all this is that the buyer has their product that I sent within 2 business days and I have to wait 3 weeks to get my money for the transaction to be complete!  This just isn't right!

Get this.....I have had a temporary hold on incoming funds FOR NO REASON.  Yeah, that's right.....NO REASON.  I sell on Ebay.  I have 100% positive feedback.  I have no disputes against me.  My star rating system on Ebay is are 4.9's and 5.0's.  I sell costume jewelry and sometimes old photographs.  But, they decided that I meet the criteria for placing a temporary hold on incoming funds.  Oh, I can get them....only after the package has been proven delivered, I get positive feedback.....or if 21 days goes by without anyone complaining about me.  WTF??????  I could see doing it to me if I had ACTUALLY done something to deserve it.  I was on the phone with Paypal customer support and that was the most pathetic experience I have ever had with ANY customer support of ANY business.  Even they couldn't tell me why the hold was placed.  All they can offer are "canned" responses and "dictionary explanations"....oh, and "possible scenarios".  NO REAL ANSWERS.   Might as well be talking to robots.  When you ask to speak to someone higher up that deals in the department of placing holds....well, they just can't give you that information because they don't have it.  Isn't that nice and convenient?  I think my favorite part of the conversation was when they offered me advice on how to avoid this happening to me again in the future.....they said I could work on bettering my feedback and star scores.....again, WTF?????  If I wasn't so PO'd right now I'd die laughing.    Basically, in a nutshell, I was told that I might as well bend over and take it up the yingyang because there isn't anything they can do about it.    So, watch out fellow paypal members.....you might be next.

THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, I DON'T POST MUCH BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE THE NEGATIVITY THAT I RECEIVE FROM A FEW INDIVIDUALS.

WE ARE HAVING AN ECONOMIC CRISIS.  ENRON, THE BANKS & ALL OF THE OTHER CORPORATIONS WHO HAVE STOLEN FROM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAVE BEEN A MAJOR SOURCE OF THIS FINANCIAL PROBLEM.

THE GOVERNMENT BORROWS MONEY TO BAIL OUT THE BANKS & COMPANIES LIKE AIG.  NOW WE OWE ALL OF THESE LOANS SO THOSE OF US WHO ARE RETIRED CAN'T RECEIVE THE COLA FROM SOCIAL SECURITY.  SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT A GOVERNMENT FUNDED ACCOUNT EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY BORROWED FROM OUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION.  THE PEOPLE ON THE TOP, WHO ARE LIVING ULTRA HIGH STANDARDS HAVE NOT BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO REPAY THE MONEY THEY TOOK, & MANY OF THEM HAVE WALKED AWAY WITH RETIREMENT MONEY BEYOND WHAT MOST PEOPLE WILL GET.  WE DON'T EVEN HAVE THE OPTION OF NOT CONTRIBUTING TO SOCIAL SECURITY & MEDICARE.

BASICALLY, THOSE WHO HAVE THE GOLD, RULE.  AT LEAST IT SEEMS TO LOOK THAT WAY.  HOW CAN WE ORDINARY PEOPLE FIGHT THAT ENTITY THAT ALLOWS THIS TO GO ON.

I JUST HAD SPINE SURGERY, & WHATEVER HAPPENED I CAN'T WALK, THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY IS GETTING MORE NUMB.  CAN'T GET AN ATTORNEY TO HANDLE ANYTHING.  IT ISN'T ABOUT MONEY FOR ME IT'S ABOUT GETTING SOMETHING SO I CAN PAY SOMEONE TO DRIVE ME TO WHERE I NEED TO GO.  IT REALLY IS A SAD STATE THAT WE ARE ALL IN SITUATIONS FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER & HAVE NO WAY TO ADDRESS THEM.  THE USE OF PAYPAL IS USED BY SO MANY WEB SELLERS THAT IT IS REALLY DIFFICULT TO PAY ANY OTHER WAY.  DO THESE OTHER COMPANIES EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM GETTING PAID?  RECENTLY, I DO BUY A LOT ON THE WEB BECAUSE I CAN'T GET INTO A CAR, CAN'T DRIVE ETC & NEED THINGS IN MY HOME.  LIKE A NEW AIR MATTRESS BECAUSE MINE GOT A HOLE IN IT.  CERTAIN OTC ITEMS FOR THE PSORIASIS I HAVE.  MOST COMPANIES HAVE ALSO RAISED THEIR SHIPPING COSTS TO ALL TIME HIGHS.

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.  IF THERE WERE A DIFFERENT FREE COUNTRY TO LIVE IN, I WOULD PROBABLY NOT HESITATE TO MOVE.

Why would I send out my product for a buyer to enjoy and not get paid for it until they decide to get back onto their ebay account to leave feedback or 21 days later? This is rediculous, if I send out my product I should be entitled to the profit upon sale just like any other store!

File this info under eBay/PayPal to close loopholes--more changes to come.

Just read this article posted 5 hours ago:

Paypal updates Buyer Protection terms

Change in terms and conditions outlines more rights for customers buying from retailers other than Ebay

http://www.computeractive.co.uk/computeractive/news/2261659/paypal-updates-buyer-protection

This article has to do with ebay/paypal UK however while we may not believe PayPal is paying attention to our posts it would seem that they might be using our posts to plug loopholes.  I know I have mentioned it along with others that if you use PayPal on another auction site your funds are not held.  So I suppose now they will play GOD with holding funds received outside of eBay purchases--if they deem it suspect and necessary to hold to protect the buyers.  I am both a buyer and seller--since when are sellers the enemy--I was scammed several times as a buyer with nothing resolved-a write off for me.

Oh well another day another dollar!

Can they push the small sellers out the door any faster?  Where is Google's auction site--I am so ready!

Yeah, this article didn't really make too much sense to me either. To me, it's just people with BIG BUCKS playing "ring around the rosie"! And naturally, they think everyone's too stupid to see through the nonsense.

The California State Controller will get our money from PayPal to distribute back to the consumer on June 1, 2010.

They urge us to get it from Pay Pal but Pay Pal had code that runs it's customers in circles to nowhere (all that Bush era coding for theives.

My ebay/paypal accounts are at least 10-15 years old. I have never had activity that would give any reason to consider any of my transactions as risky. Yet recently two transactions I made had 20+ day holds put on them and no satisfactory explanation given.

I have been a big fan and advocate of both ebay and paypal for many years. I've even given "The Payapl Wars" book as a gift several times.

Now I find myself so dissatisfied at the unreasonable way customers appear to be treated that I have decided to seek out and use alternatives wherever possible.

I have sold all ebay shares I owned. I believe that a company that messes with its customers messes with its future. A company that messes with it's customers money is as good as dead.

Hope you enjoyed investing with my funds while you had them.
