HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I have better things to do then listen to the Dude spout out his version of the truth. I have not disclosed this before for but I am a contract lawyer. I have repeated that my funds are not held simply because my funds are never held-by the terms of the user agreement my funds can not be held as I am in the money market. I believe in the class action and that ultimately there will be a settlement. Will it be major funds=no not at all but it just may change the way PayPal does business.Don't contact me for I have had enough of being a cheerleader.Au revoirfemsol"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to no one~.”William Shakespeare
I thought you were a contract lawyer! I am a former legal assistant (for the largest law firm in Oklahoma) and I knew by the way you write that you know what you are talking about. Only lawyers know what you wrote and I knew from my previous law firm experience that you are the "real deal."
Thanks for your input regarding this issue. Too bad others didn't realize the truth in what you wrote. Of course, I wish you would not leave this forum but you have to do what is best for you. I'm sure it is very frustrating trying to help others with this issue only to have things twisted and thrown back at you as inaccuracies.
Thanks again and best wishes.

To ocpoolman & Dontlikeitman: Yes that''s very inovatitive but I tried that site a couple of months back and I don't think it's a direct link. It'll take you to other links ( I believe ). Second, we all have to remember that the real culprit is eBay not PayPal. They're only doing what they're told to do. If I bought a company for a billion dollars and I was signing their meal tickets I wouldn't want them questioning me either. Would you? it's about money and politics, dudes.

You hit the nail on the head. It is an evil idea developed by evil, greedy men. Then to add insult to injury you must deal with PayPal customer service if you have a problem.

So what if I am a new seller on ebay. Im broke, that is why I have to sell my stuff.
Your holding on to my money until the buyer approves of his purchase, wtf !!
OK sure I am having a hard time with your stupid rule waiting for you to release MY money but what fires me up the most about it is that your even holding on to the shipping part of the payment.
How in the world is a poor, broke, jobless person like me supposed to send the item to the buyer without the shipping funds?
I can't ship the item therefore I get no positive feedback allowing you to hold MY money long enough the buyer gets mad and either files a claim against me and/or gets refunded. This all leaving me with your friggin ebay fees to pay (with money I don't have)
Way to go PayPal, your pretty smart when it comes to you making a profit, I can see now you really don't care about your little wallet fillers like me.
Unfortunately, I am so friggin stuck in your stupid little fingers right now... waiting for this box of stuff I sold to magically get shipped to its destination without any money in hopes I can get paid finally.
I hate to think what my buyer is going to say about me as a seller.
Oh well, it probably don't matter anyways, I can't afford to be under your messed up rules so I may cancel ebay unless I can find buyers who think you **bleep** as much as I do and will pay with an alternative method.

I'm on the phone with them right now.
The first time I called they told me the buyer is now required to give me positive feedback or they won't release the money.
I asked him to clarify if that was now PayPal's policy - that the seller (me) has to email and beg the buyer to leave positive feedback so i can receive the payment. He said it was.
I asked to speak to his supervisor and he hung up on me.
I called back. After wading through the menus again and waiting on hold for another rep, I was cut off again as soon as the rep picked up (heard the background chatter and then it went dead).
I called again. I'm now on the phone. Third time... waiting on hold 12 minutes, so far, for the supervisor.
I have an ebay account that is 11 YEARS OLD and my paypal account is nearly 10 years old. I have 100% positive feedback over nearly 11 YEARS on ebay. Paypal has no reason to hold my funds as I have NEVER had a complaint in 10+ YEARS!
If they do not change this policy back, I will NEVER, EVER use ebay or PayPal again, ending my 11 year relationship.
I'll post back with whatever resolution they provided.... if they hang up on me again, I'm done.

35 minutes on hold.
Rep has just picked up.
Re-verifies all my info.
Argues that it is Pay-Pal's role to plice the transaction, even though she sees the packages as being en route using the tracking info I provided and can see that I have a 11 year track record with 100% positive feedback.
I ask he what more I can do, since she can see that the package is shipped. I tell her Pay Pal's role is not to police the transaction.

Instead of the money being held for 21 days, cant we just add a tracking number and the money is released within around 4 days from the item being delivered (verified by tracking info added to paypal)? That way theres no need to wait for feedback from the buyer?
