HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

PayPal’s policy of withholding payments from new Sellers (Pending Balance) is outrageous and should be illegal.

Do you walk into a store, pick up an item and then tell the store clerk; “you’ll get your money in 21 days”?  What a joke!

When eBay wants me to pay my seller fees, can I tell them; “You’ll receive your money in three weeks”?

I’ve since refunded my buyers money, and am now closing my PayPal account!

You should be ashamed of yourselves for this; I hope the BBB investigates… I know I’ll be filing a complaint with them.

This 21 day hold thing and other rules PayPal has now is horrible!

Like eBay’s recent policy of sellers not being able to leave negative feedback on buyers, which in eBay’s explanation is that by eliminating the possibility of a buyer getting a negative, it builds the confidence in the buyer to keep buying… but sellers can still get hammered on… wtf?

So get this! I have a new account, sold a ****load of stuff on eBay in one week, and the money poured in... I'm talking up into the thousands!

The weird thing I don’t understand is how some $$ are available and other $$ are there but in pending balance limbo?!

Anyways, knowing that I was going to have this money after the week of sales was up, I had already bid and won an auction myself.

So, yesterday, I send the payment for MY win and PayPal stops the transaction pulls the money from the seller and places both of our accounts on Limited status pending an investigation…

I’m speculating, maybe it’s because I’m new and he’s very well established? The payment was substantially large?...etc.

So, now PayPal emails and asks me to Fax in all of this proof of who I am, address verification, power bill, drivers license, etc.

They released the sellers account within hours, but now I feel like I’m being punished for being a seller who bought something!

I just want my **bleep** money!

Okay, I have an established PayPal account, although it hasn’t been used in about 6-months.

I sold some items on eBay, now that payments came through, some went to my account with no problem, others are being held under the Pending Balance fiasco, and yes, on the same account.

One of the pending payments came from a PayPal Premier member.

I contacted PayPal, and the vague explanation was that it falls under the same pending balance rule as; “send first, get paid after”.

Can someone here please explain this a little better?

Also, seriously, why are PayPal’s customer service reps so vague in their answers to questions?

Are they not properly trained, or just aren’t given the answer sheets that other customer services have from their companies?

Me too.  It's ridiculous.  The policy even states that after proof of delivery, the funds will be released.  The buyer refuses to leave feedback, even after many requests.  And the money is on hold.  How is that a fair business practice?  Paypal is horrible and I can't wait for someone to offer another option.

I am having the same problem. I just made my very first  auction. Sold an ipod shuffle, delivered according to usps.com track and confirm two days ago. The buyer has not even emailed me and ignored all my emails to him. I left positive feed back, but as of yet no feedback whatso every from the buyer. My funds will be held for another 17 days, what gives? How is anyone going to do business on ebay/paypal like this. Ebay even cancelled two active w/bids auctions I had two days ago because they need more verification. Ebay/paypal already have my bank account numbers and social. Is that not enough I.D..? Now they want me to fax a copy of my DL and bank papers to them. Sorry for the rant, but had to be done.

I had a hold placed on a sale.......Okay what ever. Then I had a seler refund some freight an a hold was placed on that also! Anyway here is the e-mail I sent to Paypal.

"I received payment from a buyer and you guy's put my money on hold. Okay I can live with that I haven't sold anything on eBay in a while maybe that's why. I received a credit today from a seller I bought something from, and you guy's put a hold on that also; the **bleep**! You took the money out of my bank account right away I expect the refund right away also. I've started searching about these policies, and have noticed there are quite a few law suits being brought up. These practices are unfair, and I will not sell any thing else until they are fixed! Give me my money!"

ok, so I sold and item on eBay and buyer paid that same day. This is my first time selling something.

When I wanted to ship the item I couldn't find the address on paypal since no history was found. When I returned to my ebay it says payment was received and I had to ship the item. I called my bank and they said my balance was the same and no payment was received.

The buyer told me this:

If you log on to your PayPal account you should see that the transaction has been completed or maybe, because this is your first sale, they might not be releasing the money for either a certain amount of time or until the item is received by customer and feedback is left.
Again you'd have to e-mail PayPal customer service don't just take my word for it.
My PayPal account says the transaction is completed and the money has been deducted from my bank account.

Is this true? If so, is it only rhe 1st time you sell something? Thanks

the same thing happened to me. i sold 3 games yesterday and i have immediate payment required on them so they obviously paid. i got emails saying that the payments were received and everything but they arent showing up on my paypal. i talked to one of my buyers and he said that for him it says the transaction is complete and everything and it shows up on his paypal and all that. so i did some research and apparently paypal holds your money till feedback is left on ebay. i just shipped the games today. i took a chance lets see what happens now. if anything im sueing paypal or w/e.
