Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds,not trying to be a satisfaction authority!
I have nothing but glowing eBay feedback for professional service, and yet I get this idiot message that PayPal is going to hold funds. What the **bleep** is this? Have a scammed someone lately for fraudulent eBay transactions or not shipping something after receiving payment? NO. Is PayPal scamming it's customers and hurting business on eBay? YES.

Awesome. i didn't know about this until just a little bit ago. i saw that i had recieved payment from a buyer, yesterday, and printed a shipping label through paypal, yesterday. today, upon looking at my bank account, and seeing an Insufficient Funds charge, realized that Paypal tried to take money from my bank account to cover for shipping that was now being held hostage by paypal. Thanks for costing me $30, Paypal! way to be!
This is a terrible way for a company to treat its customers!!!!!!! Next paypal is going to need bailed out!!!! Who ever heard of any thing as stupid as this????? I am furious!!!!!
What a joke! I have been on both sides of the fence in the past 2 weeks. Either way you slice it it **bleep**. First of all Pay Pal should make it a point to inform the buyer that their product may be held by the seller for 21 days to wait for payment to clear. On the other hand if the seller holds the product for 21 days due to some poorly thought through policy what kind of feedback do you think they will receive??? If you do ship the item before 21 days you are destined to be **bleep**ed by some immoral buyer. Great job eBay and pay pal. This is the last time I will ever use your forum to buy or sell!
I just got off the phone with the corporate office of Fed Ex. If I use this carrier instead of UPS or USPS how will the confirmation number or delivery confirmation be received by pay-pal or eBay? This is a way of pay-pal and eBay getting the shipping revenue paid through them rather than the local USPS or ups facility or contractor. I have a perfect record with ebay, and they still held my money. How could you refund money if their holding it any way. The notion that Meg Whitman wants my vote for Governer because she ran Ebay is a joke.
Fed ex and other trucking compamies know this is a ploy to squeeze them out. After the 2 transactions I have in progress are done, forget ebay. I will never use them again as a buyer or a seller.
I can't agree more! Holding money, MY MONEY for 21 days is ridiculous. I can't believe Paypal has decided to do this. Had I known that they were going to do this, I wouldn't of used them.
I was not even aware of this new policy, just going along, using paypal for just about everything thinking it's great! I've had my own probs w/paypal just recently (now fixed, i hope) but this is indicative of a definite downhill slide and i will cancel my account just as others have lately if this continues. They get you to where you're perfectly comfortable, then start thinking they OWN You!!!!!! So I just got off the phone with a PayPal rep, well a few hours ago and was told my money would be released if I had the conformation number when I ship the item or if the buyer leaves feedback. They said that they would see the feedback and give me my money. Is there any validity to this?
There's no truth to the first part about the delivery confirmation. I already did that and it was delivered 7 days ago. The second part is true once feedback is left the money is released.
Another question, Im new to selling on EBay, if the item is shipped and recieved couldnt the person retract the payment and leave the seller high and dry?
