Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Will Paypal only hold payments with a transaction through eBay or could you sell on amazon and it would do the same holding payments Policy.

I am not sure, although what I have heard is this hold policy comes from ebay. I myself am seriously looking at Ioffer.com to sell and propay for payments in and out. Just looking around right now but other auctions do look interesting.

Only one way to find out, and that's to try them out. Also, for those of you thinking about ioffer, my site is www.gadgetmanonline.ioffer.com. My other is www.blujay.com/tenthedj.

Do not click on the blujay link. You have to type the site in your search bar. Yahoo! search can't bring up the site. Why, I don't know.

I too thought that the holding funds for 21 days was just for new sellers, and that it would go away after a couple of months....wrong.
The holding for 21 days is not only excessive, it's downright thievery. Sellers are being punished, buyers aren't affected, the only protection is for PayPal and eBay to make interest off your money.
We pay fees out the **bleep** to PayPal and eBay just to sell items, why do we have to wait when they get paid instantly? I would just seriously consider changing their policies along with eBay. It's not fair to anyone but them and they know it.

I think we should all get together and take PayPal to court over the holding of our funds!!!!
If we were holding their funds for 21 days... think how fast they would take us to court!
I'll contact the a local consumer investigative news origination to see what can be done to change this policy, a policy that I was never notified about in the first place!!

Hello!
If you are new to ebay or paypal, funds are held for this long unless you have proof of delivery (Del. conf. number) or the person leaves feedback on ebay. This is noted in several places on ebay and can be found in PayPal's service terms that you agreed to when you opened your account (yes, those were supposed to be read over, not skipped over!)

I pay attention to detail. I have a pay pal account that I only used for buying. When I started selling that disclaimer about holding funds was not there. And besides, I am a power seller that just opened this account as another that would not get in the way of the account my wife uses most of the time. And regardless if they tell you or not it is ilegal to hold those funds. That is why we have credit cards as back ups! They are investing this money! It is our money. Yes, they should be investigated and I am going to start!
