To Darlene,
The fact of legality does not make something good or right. In the United States, slavery was LEGAL. And still, clear thinking, moral persons did not support it. Your emphasis on "LEGAL" completely misses the point of most of the postings.

First of all Wikileaks didn't steal anything. Second the content did not put anyone at risk despite what you've read. Wkiileaks redacted any personal information, so says the Petagon, but the powers that be don't want you to know that. It's better for them if people like yourself believe that Wikileaks is the 'Bad Guy" ,,,Someone's got to be the bad guy... Don't look too close.
By the way - stay in Canada we have enough right-wing, wingnuts here!

I , after posting this comment will cancel / close my Pay Pal account and will in addition not shop any vendors on Amazon or EBay.
Wikileaks did NOT "leak" ANYthing. The Government failed to adequately secure it's data. The actual data released was NOT gathered by Wikileaks. A government employee downloaded the files, and being in the IT Business - allowing ANYone to sit at ANY computer that can access sensitive data with writable media - is security violation 101. The CD and USB ports should have been disabled. The act of putting R/W media on a computer that can access sensitive data should have some security people in jail. They are the ones who allowed the information to be released.
Please note that several major newspapers published MORE details than Wikileaks. Many redacted specifics that do not appear on Wikileaks appear in NYT and other papers' reporting. What is PayPal's remedy - retaliation for those organizations?
PayPal - I thought - was a commercial business in the "free market. Why is PayPal involved with political controversies?
This matter is for the U.S.. Government - the originator of the data, and whomever they determine actually "released" the information - to litigate.
Pay Pal - I hope "pays" a price from broadening their scope from a commercial business - to a political partisan enforcer.
Too bad. PayPal was a very efficient and simple method to conduct commerce. Look for me on one of your competitor's sites. Hopefully to be written on WikiPedia the demise of Amazon, Ebay and PayPal and their foray into government censorship.
I'll be think of you as I conduct my transactions elsewhere. Hopefully your vendors will "feel the pain" as well as we look for alternative venues for online shopping.

I agree with most of the comments above. We have enough monkeys dictating what we can and can not do. There is no reason that Paypal needs to be governing unless they somehow feel that they were elected by the people. I know know that I sure didn't vote for you.

I am also canceling my Paypal account after 9 years of solid use. Paypal and Ebay have mischaracterized their policy as Wikileaks has not been charged with anything illegal. When I hear Paypal has reversed its position on Wikileaks, I will come back and reopen my account.

I'll do the same as soon as those mysterious "pending transactions" clear that are supposedly preventing me from closing it right now. Got little patience for PayPal telling me I can and cannot do.

I have not, as yet, canceled my account, but am seriously considering it. If action is not taken within a week, I will cancel my account due to paypal's decision to drop WikiLeaks.

I totally agree.
I too will drop my PAYPAL account due to the ignorance Paypal is showing.
Maybe they should change their name to CENSORSHIP PAL.
reminds me of the Bob Marley song "Redemption Song"
