Site usage and spped

Hi Amanda.

Thanks for the invite.

Your forum has different bell& whistles than other forums I visit, so it is something new to learn.

If I had a complaint, it is that the forum site is hosted on an https server.  This is bad news for those who have dial-up and satellite service.  Those that use these services will have the software accelerators disabled to accomidate the https protocol, and the information is transfered bit by bit.  That slows down page loads and site speed.  PayPal does have http servers ... why was the forums not placed on them?

Have a great day

Keith

Hi xcergy!

Welcome to PayPal Community Help Forum!

We have the forums under a secure server to be consistent with the rest of PayPal.com which is also entirely hosted within HTTPS.

I am sorry if this makes the pages slower for you but we are taking all possible steps to protect customer security and privacy.

LOL

Well at least you have me as a 'dial-up' guinea pig.  Actually, I have Hughes Net Satellite running @ 80Kbs when on https.  For those who do not know (most phone CS reps do not) https disables all accelerator technology and rums thhe 128bit encryption bit by bit.  That is why data transfer is so slow for those services.

I predict that site speed will deter participation.  I hope I'm wrong.

Amanda, I sent you an email with a site review.  I hope it was sent to the right inbox.
