Why can't I link my capitec debit card to my paypal account

After hair falling, multiple calls being made, I've spoken to a Paypal consultant in Ireland and I was told that as of 2 weeks ago, Capitec is no longer involved with PayPal...so I was told that I need to link my Paypal account to a different bank 😕
