Failure to accept debit/credit card

I have just created a PayPal account and when I tried to link my debit/credit card to my account, PayPal is saying that it is already linked to another account. How is this possible when this is a new card that I haven't even use?

I'm sorry to hear that you're running into this issue when trying to link a card to your PayPal account. If the card you are trying to link is brand new but our system is stating that it is already linked to another account, I suggest contacting your financial institution to make sure that there is not fraud on the account.
