Paypal holding refund for a month

PayPal is so annoying.

I received a refund on October 30th and they have not transferred it to my credit card.

When I called I was told that refunds can take up to 2 billing cycles to appear.

COME ON. That money is in PayPal's account. It's 2023 and credits are handled electronically. It's not 1990 anymore.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The worst part is that there is no way to file a complaint with PayPal that I can find. Seriously, I have become so sick and tired of their service I don't want to use it anymore. This kind of gaming is incredibly dishonest.

I want to file a complaint.

If you funded the original Paypal payment to the seller from your bank account or a card then once marked refunded/completed it will automatically go back to that bank account or card. /Once completed paypal have sent it and no longer have it in their system, it is up to your bank or card issuer how long they take to process that refund.

Normally it can take a few days up to a week to go back to a bank account. Paypal say allow 30 days for a card (1 billing cycle) but its rarely that long.
(Can vary according to country though).

In theory this is how it should work. However if my bank shows no refund submitted that means no refund has been sent by PayPal. And furthermore there is no dispute or complaint mechanism against PayPal itself. It’s unacceptable.

Well when i get refunds nothing shows on my credit card until the refund has been processed, up to 30 days later and AFTER paypal has marked in completed.

That is nonsense.

Credits do not take 30 days to post.

I have never had that experience with tens of thousands of charges over 35 years in many countries.

In the vast majority of cases refunds are processed in the same manner debits/charges are. They run through the same channels.

Except for airlines I have never had that experience except when a merchant or processor is deliberately holding on to the monies.

On the bank/credit card side, there is no interest in doing so as any interest accrued must be refunded by law.

Hello @pg246 and @kernowlass

Thanks for posting in the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear you haven't received your refund yet. As @kernowlass mentioned, as soon as the refund shows "Completed/Refunded" on your PayPal account, that means the money was sent back to your bank. On average, most banks take three to five business days to reflect the refund back in your account. However, some can take longer. Since it has been so long, and it's still not showing up in your bank account, please reach out to PayPal Customer Support and request that a trace be filed. You can review the different options for contacting Customer Support here

I hope your refund is processed soon!

He's obviously some moron who came around after PayPal got hip to getting their hands on people's money and then holding it ransom. But that's okay. Y'all bill gonna come due to soon. Cash App already stealing y'all customers and the ones that don't are just giving up on PayPal. I will not remember Y'all fondly when the dust settles
