How do I link a transaction made as a guest to my already existing account?

I recently made a purchase of an item through an Instragram ad. Because the transaction happened via Paypal completely in the Instragram app, I never fully logged into my Paypal account while making it (even though the transaction used my Paypal-linked email, etc). I then received a confirmation email with a Transaction ID Number, Shipping Address, and all other relevant information.

I tried to link this transaction to my existing Paypal account by clicking "Activate Paypal Now" in the confirmation email but when I do that, I just get prompted to change my password. Even when I do this, it doesn't link the transaction to my account.

When I try to "Report A Problem" with the transaction on Paypal, I can't because the transaction isn't showing on my activities page. All I have to prove that the transaction happened is a charge to my credit card, the confirmation email, and all the info therein. I can't find a way to track and, if needed, report a problem with my transaction.

Is there any way to link a guest transaction to your account or find a transaction using only the transaction ID number if it's NOT on your account?

Thanks!

I think you can only add a guest transaction to a paypal account if you have made the transaction BEFORE opening a paypal account.

If you already have a paypal account but didn't use it then don't think you can add it but check with customer services as that may have changed or they may be able to add it for you?
